Community meeting on IRC 1st September 2022

Schedule: Thursday 2022-09-01T07:00:00Z   :world_map:   :date:

Topic proposals for the meeting:

  • Add your name/nick using the template below to suggest a topic.
  • Indicate how much time you’ll need so we can time-box the meeting accordingly.
  • Please be as thorough as you can with your question/topic.
  • If you can’t make the meeting please ask and name a substitute.

It is expected that you show up and present your topic, or name a substitute and make sure they attend in your absence. These IRC meetings are for real time participation and live discussions, otherwise you can post the topic on here and get responses that way.

We need you to be present to clarify details in the topic, and to ensure the discussion is leading to the answers you are looking for! If you do not participate or your question/topic isn’t clear enough it will be postponed. Also: always ask for more time than you anticipate your topic needs!

Please have your topics ready at least 3 days before the meeting so we can prepare good answers. Topics announced afterwards will be postponed to the next meeting.

  • Name/IRC nick: JacekJagosz (might not be able to attend)
  • Topic: Do new SFOS versions use the newest device configurations from Sony?
  • Some details about the topic: While investigating this issue I traced it back to Sony’s Lena config, where CPU cores where improperly configured. I discussed it there, and my pull request to fix it was merged immediately. So my question then is, will next SFOS version use this fixed config? Does new version always use newest config (that was available during development), or is it updated only when there was something really important in there?
  • Approx. time needed: 5 min

Log: #sailfishos-meeting log

Once again, lots of nice discussion. Thank you to everyone who joined.

Great news for harbour, sailjail:

ViGe> So far, we have in the pipeline Sailfish Secrets and Crypto, QtLocation, Sailfish Media, Sailfish Contacts, Sailfish Accounts and Sailfish Telephony

And more work to do

Which apps are going to be allowed in the store when those APIs become available? Any list of some sort?

Is the Accounts api documented somewhere? I’m curious how hard will be to integrate NextCloud / Google drive / Dropbox to application…

I think it’s incomplete but: Accounts and SSO | Sailfish OS Documentation and Accounts SSO · GitLab ?

This is very much personal and not official advice, but you could also check inside /usr/lib64/qt5/qml/Sailfish/Accounts/ to get an idea of things, until better documentation is available.
