[4.4.0.68] Xperai 10 III cant use hold shift key for typing uppercase words

REPRODUCIBILITY: 100%
OS VERSION: 4.4.0.68
HARDWARE: X10 III
UI LANGUAGE: ru
REGRESSION: yes
ADAPTATION: 1.0.0.142

DESCRIPTION:

Multi touch keyboard was broken. I always use one finger to hold shift key, and another to press letters on keyboard. On XA2+ 4.4.0.64 this work as expect, its print uppercase letters, but on my 10 III, when i hold shift key , first pressed letter not shown, next pressed print as uppercase, third pressed print as lowercase … this so annoying! )

PRECONDITIONS:

Open some message application, like notes, create new note, then tap on edit filed, wait when keyboard was shown

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  1. open some text edit application, like notes ( or any messenger, even from dalvik )
  2. tap on edit field, wait while keyboard was shown
  3. hold one finger on shift key, start typing work by another finger (with another hand )

EXPECTED RESULT:

all letters should be in uppercase

ACTUAL RESULT:

first letter not shown, second in uppercase, other letters are lowercase …

MODIFICATIONS:

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Maybe is some hardware bug, cant say, dont check this case when this device was with android os. On portrait orientation i have same result, but if i press shift with more area (press stronger), looks like its hold pressed ( maybe it really hardware bug, with touchscreen )

Every word entering with hold shift key
maliit

Confirmed, this is 100% bug of maliit keybord, because in finger term i can hold Shift key and print uppercase words!

The bug is also present on the X10 ii.

I think I understand the issue, but you can double-tap the shift key to enable “caps lock”.

Sounds like a suitable workaround to me.

Also DON’T SCREAM ALL THE TIME ON THE INTEREBS!

Yes, double tap is workaround, but this thread not about “how to write words in uppercase”, it about bug, which not reproduce on XA2+, but annoying on X10III
PS i cant even wrote SailfishOS normally in messages… :rage:

Thanks four your bug report @sashikknox. I’ve created an internal report for it and tagged it as “tracked”.
