Sailfish OS update from Jolla
The newsletter returns from the holiday break. A year ago, once returning from the Finnish summer break, we started the new Jolla Phone journey by publishing a questionnaire and now we are shipping it in a steady pace – think about it! During the journey we have believed in transparency and this we want to continue. In addition to update from Jolla also Harbour News and Repository roundup return back after summer break authored by @vige and @dcaliste respectively.
Jolla Phone updates
Delivery update & schedule
There has been a lot of discussion in the forum in regards the Batch #1, deliveries and the process in general, and where we are with delivery status as of now.
Let us clarify a couple of process things first:
- we ship in the order of pre-orders, i.e. the original pre-order number is the one that counts. If you think that your order should have been picked & packed by now, please indicate your pre-order number to us in your message (forum pm preferred)
- due to the process we use, we merge the original pre-order with the more recent final payment order, and with potential additional orders you may have made. Thus, customers will receive several tracking links automated from the system - something we can’t change for now. One of the tracking links is the one that actually moves all your ordered items.
- if you have ordered using different email we won’t be able to swiftly match the pre-order # with your final payment order #. Such orders will take substantially more time and go to separate manual handling, which queue we clear once-a-week for now
The shop@jolla.com email queue is still unfortunately very loooong and we get a lot of emails where the answer can be found (or if not directly found, easily asked) here at the very knowledgeable, responsive and supportive forum 
, so please be welcome always consider raising your hand here at the forum, the place for which we have the most eyes watching 
Shipping status & progress
We’re shipping everyday, and while the unfortunate dust issue had a bit delay to the ramp-up process, we start to be back on track and can continue to catch up to finalise the Batch #1 shippings. This will naturally be followed by Batches #2 and #3 which will take us to 10,000 units in total - which is a lot to deliver in two months while we’re ramping up our operations. We now estimate to complete Batch #3 during September.
Thus, the overall delay is roughly a month from initial estimates and it looks like we will need to push the September & October batches forward accordingly. We will send a dedicated email to all customers during next week once we should be clear in regards the dust issue.
Dust issue
We have been able to verify a solution to the dust issue and it seems to be now under control in the manufacturing process so we can continue ramp-up the volume. We’ll update separately to the dust issue in the dust thread, but here is a sneak peak to the final tests:
Final payments for the October batch
There’s been questions in regards the final payments collection for the October delivery as the due date lapsed in July 31 for some of the early customers. No worries, this was due to the delays in the process (incl. the dust issue) combined with some overlapping holidays in our small team and all the orders remain valid. We’ll adjust the lapsed due dates automatically and send individual email to every affected customer next week.
Cancellations, Refunds and Returns
We’d like to remind on our Return & Refund Policy, which provides that you can cancel anytime simply using the Withdrawal Form and in addition we have a 30-day Return & Refund Policy from the day you receive the phone. No questions asked and always welcome back

TOH designs
Today we published the 3D model of The Other Half. They can be found in toh-designs repository on Github. Feel free to fork the repo and share your own TOH designs.
While the model is designed for injection moulding, it can be 3D printed. We have experimented ourselves with FDM 3D printing it and found that printing generally works quite well when printed on its long side in 45 degree angle with ample support in both PETG and PLA materials. The smallest details may not print perfectly and the surface will not be even though. That could be improved with design changes. This is something we hope the community will contribute in the future.
A community member took a head start in 3D printing by creating their own independent design already.
New Jolla Blog
During July we decided to archive the old Jolla Blog platform and open the new Jolla Blog at the Sailfish OS forum. Please see and follow the official Jolla Blog here now onwards:
Sailfish OS releases
The main focus of Salfish OS 5.2 updates has been on getting Sailfish running smoothly on the new Jolla Phone, and improving the out-of-the-box user experience. A lot of effort has gone into device testing and QA improvement.
We have done few update releases during the summer to streamline the process on the final assembly line.
Now that we’re slowly getting back from summer vacation, getting Sailfish OS 5.2 out for all device will take still time. Frankly, we have not have time to check other devices but we know that we have issues to sort out before we are ready to publish Sailfish OS 5.2 for all devices. For example, we needed to change audio routing handling for Jolla Phone and those changes broke other devices so fixes are needed.

Harbour News
The summer has been long. While the sailors at Jolla HQ might have been enjoying their well deserved summer vacation outside, the app developers have been enjoying their summer developing apps. The long list of apps presented here is only a fraction of the apps that have been under development, and the Harbour queue is still about one month long.
SFOS Forum Viewer
Our forum client received several updates, now we are at version 1.16.3. Here are the changes from version 1.14.7:

TopScore
A new game! TopScore is a Yahtzee® clone. You roll the dice three times and try to create combinations with maximum score.
WORDLE
This classic word guessing game was updated to version 1.1.13. The changes are:
- Added Norwegian Bokmål dictionary
- Improved Swedish translation
- More interactive items on the statistics page
- Disallow inverted portrait orientation
- Updated Russian dictionary
Situations
Situations is an app which allows you to automate the behavior of your phone, based on… situations. The latest version (4.4.0) brings these improvements:
- Rewritten UI and functionality to be on the same level as with Android version
- Added support for 5G
- Added support for user created ambiences
- Added support for AppSupport
Reis
Reis is a public transport travel planner for Norway. It allows you to get live updates of departures from any stop or station. There’s also functionality to find best routes to your destination with public transportation.
File Browser
File Browser, a file manager app, received an update to version 3.10.0. The changelog is fairly long:
- Added translations: Arabic (Egyptian), Japanese
- Updated translations: Chinese (China), Estonian, French, German, Italian, Norwegian Bokmål, Portuguese, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Spanish, Swedish, Tamil, Ukrainian
- Improved hints when creating new files/folders: you can use slashes to quickly create a bunch of folders at once
- Improved file icons with colors to be more discernible
- Improved file type detection to give more files recognizable icons
- Fixed office files (documents, spreadsheets, presentations) being treated as zip files
- Fixed timestamps of folders and symlinks getting lost when copying/moving files
- Fixed permissions getting lost when cut-and-pasting files
- Fixed permissions of new files/folders being too lax, they’re now rw-r-r
- Fixed usb devices showing spaces in their name as “x20”
- Fixed trailing whitespace sneaking into filenames when creating a new file/folder
- Fixed the changelog to be only in one place
- Fixed root mode becoming unusable with light ambiences
- Added support for quickly copying a file’s path by tapping on the path in the file info page
- Added support for quickly changing permissions by tapping on the permissions in the file info page
- And a bunch of changes under the hood
Skruuvi
Skruuvi, a reader for Ruuvi sensors, was updated to version 2.0.2. This version fixes device scanning on SFOS 5.1 and cached devices not getting updated.
SailHN
SailHN, the Hacker News client, received an update to version 0.10.5. The changelog:
- Add a cover action to refresh item stats
- Fix code blocks not wrapping
- Fix crash on story load
- Restore the copy external url feature
Tarkka
Tarkka, the digital magnifying glass, was updated to version 0.6.0. This update brings filter settings: show, hide, and reorder filters (persisted). Other changes:
- Settings page with reset to defaults
- Opal About page and SupportMe dialog
Gotifish
The Gotify client was updated to version 1.3.0. The changelog:
- Add onboarding wizard to add a server: probe, password or SSO login, success screen
- Add OIDC single sign-on login via browser (PKCE), for the next Gotify release
- Show client expiry on the Clients page; pick expire-after-inactivity at creation
- Add “Elevate for one hour” with browser re-authentication fallback on OIDC servers
- Ask account credentials before removing a client on elevation-gated servers
- Keep saved clients on transient network errors; remove only when the token is invalid
- Client tokens are now stored encrypted via Sailfish Secrets instead of plaintext dconf
KaraKeep
KaraKeep is a client for Karakeep - a self-hosted bookmarks manager. The client received a bugfix release (0.3.2) with the following fixes:
- settings: avoid duplicate autosave and show settings save state
- settings: persist auth settings immediately to avoid loss on quit
AllRadio2
AllRadio2, a radio player for online streaming radio, received minor update to version 2.0.26. The changes include Norwegian Bokmål translation and some tiny fixes: hide player panel when in about and settings.
Speed Fast Pro
Speed Fast Pro is a network speed test app. Basically it downloads a bunch of data from cloudfare and calculates the speed from the time it takes. Even though this is a new app, it has already received an update, which fixed the permissions so that now the app requires only Internet permission.
SailStream for Plex
Another newcomer in Jolla Store: SailStream is an unofficial Plex Client. It allows you to play your movies, tv shows and music from your Plex Media Server.
OrderMail
OrderMail is a small helper application which allows sending email to Jolla Shop support in a consistent way. This should help them to process the email queue more efficiently. Note that this is unofficial and not created by Jolla! Please use responsibly.
Obsidian Runner
Obsidian is a note taking app - kind of. It allows you to write notes, create graphs and so on, and sync those between devices. Obsidian runner allows you to run Obsidian on a Sailfish device. It runs the actual Obsidian runtime in a simulated environment. On the first run it asks you to download the runtime, after which you have to restart the app to start the actual Obsidian app.
KibiTiles (2048)
KibiTiles is a native Sailfish OS version of the classic 2048 game. Thanks to a new maintainer (@roundedrectangle), the Harbour version received a long due update to version 3.1.2. The changelog from previous version (2.1) is quite long:
- App is now translatable
- Italian translation
- Swedish translation
- Russian translation
- Sailfish-styled colors all across the app in more places
- Fixed a bug when data didn’t save when switching between TetraTile and HexaTile modes sometimes
- Data migration script for pre-3.0 releases. See the app’s description for more info
- Support for newer SailfishOS versions to it.
- SailJail profile (for sandboxing)
- Noarch build
- Switched from Qt Quick LocalStorage to Nemo.Configuration for storing data – Unfortunately, data from the previous version won’t be transferred
Dino
Dinosaur game received dark mode in version 1.4.1.
Ielig Image
Ielig Image, which used to be a slideshow app, received a quite major update to version 0.3.1. The new version adds image editing functionalities, so it’s no longer just a slideshow app. There’s also better image picker and some smaller fixes.

Guangzhou(Canton) ferry service app received updated routes in app version 1.3
iCalendar filter
iCalendar filter is an app which allows you to download iCalendar files and filter them. Version 1.3.1 brings UI changes and shows available component properties.
Immich
Immich, a Sailfish OS client for the self-hosted photo and video management solution with the same name, was updated to version 0.6.1. The changes include:
- added folders page (Immich server folder structure browser)
- added places page (search assets by places)
- fixed an issue with navigation from asset detail picking up wrong model for pages derived from timelinemodel
- fixed visibility issues for icons with light themes
- update API calls to work with the Immich 3 server
- update filter bars look, added possibility to display assets by created date
- added custom loading indicators
- loading of assets is done by assets near viewport rather than timeline buckets near viewport
- fixed memories not loading due to the validation change introduced in Immich server 3.0.3
- fixed memories loading indicator showing incorrectly

jolla-camera, the application to shoot pictures, abranson fixed some mistake in space calculation on VFAT when checking for available storage on a device.sailfish-nfcshare, NFC share plugin, monich tweaked the sharing menu so not to fillup the entire screen estate when there is a long list of shared items.sailfish-weather, the application providing weather forecast information, DeathByDenim fixed issues in certain timezones where the next day was not shown. pvuorela removed the provider from the cover.lipstick, the home screen code (open source parts), pvuorela proposed to adjust the name of methods used to raise windows, making the purpose and the actual action clearer.
Network, communication and telephony stack
nemo-qml-plugin-email, QML bindings for emails, dcaliste fixed a memory leak in account handling. He also added a mechanism to fallback to PLAIN authentication when creating an account if another method fails. pvuorela cleaned up the code a bit for better readability in account handling.openvpn, a VPN solution, mal proposed to update it to 2.7.5.bluez5, the Linux Bluetooth stack, mal updated it to 5.87. keto proposed a patch fixing permission access for Bluetooth LE devices (like keyboards or mice) on specific devices.nemo-qml-plugin-connectivity, QML bindings for network connectivity, LaakkonenJussi added support for IPv6 address in WireGuard endpoint parsing.ofono, the telephony library, monich picked up some upstream fixes for memory issues.libqofono, the QML bindings to Ofono, abranson worked on exposing the new Cell Broadcast Service signals from oFono D-Bus.
Browsing the web

gecko-dev, Mozilla’s Gecko web rendering engine, abranson provided several fixes: for quiting path between embedlite and gecko engine, for vertical display synchronisation, for video playback from VA1 format…embedlite-components, QML components for the browser, abranson removed the custom handling of certificate error to now use theabout:certerrorpage instead. mal fixed an issue of click not being handled in some complex web page cases.qtmozembed, Qt bindings for the Gecko engine, abranson fixed a rendering issue when navigation is requested but cancelled later on.sailfish-browser, the browser application itself, nephros started a discussion and proposed a new menu entry to view the page source. abranson proposed to add an action to suscribe to an RSS feed. pvuorela adjusted the menu button positioning, based on the initial idea from nephros.
Multimedia
libexif, a library to handle EXIF data in images, mal proposed to update it to version 0.6.26.imagemagick, a multi-purpose image manipulation tool, direc85 updated it to 6.9.13.52.giflib, a library to manipulate GIF format image files, mal updated it to 6.1.3 and backported a patch to fix CVE-2026-26740.
Low level libraries
openssh, the OpenSSH implementation of SSH protocol, mal proposed to update it to 10.4p1.mesa, graphic libraries, abranson proposed a fix for a code path creating dead locks in concurrent EGL contexts.libarchive, a library to handle compressed formats, mal proposed to update it to 3.8.9.
Developer’s corner
vim, the text editor, direc85 updated it to 9.2.0781.rsync, a synchronisation command line tool, direc85 updated it to 3.4.4.curl, the command-line tool to access the web, mal proposed an update to 8.21.0.pigz, a parallel implementation of gzip, mal updated it to 2.8.mapplauncherd, the daemon responsible to start applications faster thanks to preloading, pvuorela proposed a fix for the issue of QML-only applications not being differentiated by the home screen.
