Sailfish OS update from Jolla
It’s time again for a fortnight newsletter. We are a bit late from the usual schedule but no worry – here we have it. This time we Jolla Phone and Sailfish OS updates, something intriguing that is been developed by the community in the Energy from the Community section and of course very interesting Harbour news and Repository roundup by @vige and @dcaliste respectively.

Jolla Phone update
Earlier today we posted a separate Jolla Phone update – the actual delivery update part of it has been rolled out by email to all customers during this week. You can be rest assured that every order is being handled with care but unfortunately in the process ramp-up there have been issues as well and some orders have not been located & shipped.
Yesterday post from Salo production started very nice and playful quiz on why there are hearing protectors in the picture. A lot of good possible answers were replied.
Let’s see what the reason could be?
Yes, it is the loudspeaker test of the factory test set and you may imagine some workers using those Peltors occasionally. Big hand to @ljo for adding the video to PeerTube

Sailfish OS update
Long promised Sailfish OS 5.2.0 release has been published to Community Beta (CBeta) yesterday. The audio routing issues on the older devices (other than JP2601) on Sailfish 5.2 have been finally resolved and we are getting ready to publish it to all supported devices. Preliminary feedback has been so far good.
As the target would be that this is for all supported devices, this release would delivery one long waited improvement for all supported devices: browser engine upgrade to Gecko ESR115.
Two awesome highlights from the 5.2.0.18 update as a sneak peak:
- Fixes for Android app rendering issues and hardware video codecs
- Audio issue fix in some VoIP type Android apps like Teams

Last time we didn’t have Harbour section in the newsletter, so today we have extra long section.
The queue is about six weeks now.
Suomalaiset pyhäpäivät
This new app is a public holidays calendar for Finland. It is a clear and easy-to-use calendar app for checking Finnish public holidays, holiday eves and week numbers. The app lets you browse months, check public holidays for different years and view details for the selected day. The app works locally on the device and does not require sign-in.
German Weather Service
Deutscher Wetter Dienst client was updated to version 1.1.1. The changes from version 1.0.9:
- corrects translations error
- improvements to structure for translatin
- move the rain radar to poetaster.de
- correct Kerpen lat/lon
SFOS Forum Viewer
Our forum client received more updates, the latest version number being 1.16.9. Despite the minor increase in version number, there is actually a new feature: delete post remorse timer and undelete option. In addition, there is a new thread visibility fix and translation updates: Italian, Swedish and Norwegian translations were updated and Dutch and Flemish translations added.
OrderMail
OrderMail, a tool to help Jolla Shop order communication, was updated to version 0.1.6. This was a maintenance Store release, which mainly fixes to some text string and has reworked icon to show text properly.
Päivälaskuri
This new app allows you to keep track of the days that matter. You can organize birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, milestones and other important dates into customizable folders. It tells you how many days there are left (or since) until the date.
Yrttipiha
Yrttipiha is a Finnish herb database based on Yrttitarha project. It contains information about 130 Finnish herbs: nutritional, medical and other uses, as well as general information. The information is only available in Finnish. The app was updated to version 1.0.0, which claims to be the first stable release.
Watchlist
The latest version of the stock tracking app received Finnish translation in the version 0.13.12.
Raw View
Raw image viewer was updated to version 0.9.0. The new version adds functionality to export raw images as jpeg. The external library libraw is updated to the latest version 0.22.2 in order to benefit from latest security-related fixes.
Speed Fast Pro
Network speed test app received update to version 1.1.0. Here’s the changelog:
- Added full multilingual support (Spanish, English, French, Dutch, German, Finnish, Italian, Portuguese, and Simplified Chinese).
- Built with the latest Sailfish OS 5.1 SDK targets for enhanced system compatibility.
- Improved locale auto-detection and dynamic UI translation matching.
- Optimized Sailjail sandbox permissions (restricted to internet access only for improved security).
- Minor UI layout refinements and performance optimizations.
Situations
Situations was updated to version 4.4.1. The changelog:
- Fixes for contact selection in sms sending
- Added action type information in feature lists
- Slightly updated UI scaling support
CodeReader
Barcode reader received an update to version 1.0.58. Changes include:
- Fixed the history select page to take the top notch into account
- Hide the keyboard when the search field gets out of view
- Fixed current history size in the settings
- Fixed display of ampersands in the history
- Dutch translation
- Take top notch into account
- Simplified orientation settings
SailCycle
SailCycle is a private menstrual cycle calendar and daily tracking app. It has local records, estimates, statistics and configurable privacy.
Dodo’s planner
Unofficial Trello client was updated to version 0.7. The changelog is simply “Fixed couple of bugs”.
BitSailor
BitSailor is an open source SailfishOS client for Bitwarden. It allows you to manage your passwords, secure notes or cards. It supports both official and custom servers.
Radar (Find my Device)
Radar is a native find-my-device app: see your device’s last position on a map and control it remotely via MQTT or SMS. If you somewhat close to your phone, you can command it to ring so you hear where it is - or if you are further away you can see it’s location in the map.
Cookbook
Cookbook is a Nextcloud Cookbook client. Features: Listing recipes by tag or category, keeping screen alive while having a recipe open, importing a recipe from url, searching through recipes.
SailWarden - Bitwarden Client
SailWarden is another unofficial native Bitwarden client. The app has near one-to-one feature parity with the official Bitwarden apps:
- Full Vault Support: View, edit, search, and manage your Logins, Secure Notes, Cards, Identities, and SSH Keys.
- Password Generator: Create secure passwords, passphrases, and email aliases.
- Organizations and Collections: Move secrets into Organizations and add/remove them from Collections.
- Bitwarden Send: Create and share secure text or file. Sends with support for custom expiration and access counts.
- PIN: Optional screen locking with PIN code.
- Device Login: Grant access to your Bitwarden vault from another device or vice versa
- SSO Support: Support for single-sign on accounts.
- Vaultwarden Support: Full support for Vaultwarden self-hosted instances.
- Multilanguage Support: Available in: English, Finnish, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, Norwegian Bokmål, Polish, Russian, Slovak, Swedish, Vietnamese, and Simplified Chinese.
Volcanic Glass 2
Volcanic Glass 2 is not a new app - it used to be called Obsidian Runner but it was renamed. Besides the rename, the changelog doesn’t say much: Support Volcanic Glass 1.13 and miscellaneous improvements.
Straps
Straps is yet another workout tracker. This one focuses on push, pull and leg exercises.
Sailcord
Discord client was updated to version 0.11.2. Here’s the changelog:
- Reactions, Cleaner UI and Much More
- Compact UI option (makes everything smaller)
- Updated emojis
- Various other fixes and improvements
- Updated translations: Dutch, Italian and Swedish
- sending: Sort DMs by Message ID

Sail Prompt
Sail Prompt is an OpenAI -compatible AI chat application.

The telegram client was updated to version 0.18. The changelog is long

Immich
Immich client received an update to version 0.7.0. Here’s the changelog:
- added people page (browse the assets per person recognized by the image recognition)
- fixed video playback and navigation when displaying video matches images
- fixed application crash on Jolla Phone 2026 when opening asset detail page
Repository roundup
Main interface
toh-content, a repository to store The Other Half application code, Tomin1 imported the code for the Inari Blue switch.lipstick, the home screen code (open source parts), jusa released cover snapshot locks immediately when the display is blanked, so a destroyed surface is not kept alive.xkeyboard-config, alternative xkb data files, perttupoh remapped the keypad star and pound keys, so Qt can handle them. This is useful for a device with a physical keypad, like the Commodore Callback.jolla-camera, the application to shoot pictures, pvuorela added some settings in the overlay, like one to toggle to high-resolution images. He also ensured that the GPS positioning is kept alive even when looking at the previously shot images.sailfish-weather, the application providing weather forecast information, abranson and monich worked to avoid having sunny icons during night periods.
Network, communication and telephony stack
buteo-sync-plugin-caldav, the synchronisation framework plugin for CalDAV content, dcaliste fixed an issue in the parser for calendar data arriving on one line (iCloud servers behave like that). This problam was making the sync very slow, treating only one event per sync cycle.libqofono, Qt bindings for Ofono, monich expanded the D-Bus timeout for services that could take longer time than the default, like call settings or call forwarding.nemo-qml-plugin-email, QML bindings for emails, dcaliste modified how decrypted emails are internally stored, allowing to reply to or forward the content of an encrypted email in its decrypted form.mobile-broadband-provider-info, the database of access point configurations, pvuorela proposed to update from upstream, including support for Bolivia, Gibraltar and Tajikistan and bringing changes for Norway.mce, mode control entity, spiiroin fixed lid sounds being emitted on startup. He also modified the LED handling to allow devices with several notification LEDs (like de Commodore Callback) to use them independantly.libgsupplicant, a client library for wpa_supplicant, LaakkonenJussi ensured that legacy PAP can still be used in an EAP setup.connman, the connection manager, abranson moved the runtime directory creation from RPM scripts toconnmanstrat fromsystemd. This fixes some issues with CLAT. LaakkonenJussi was working on fixing how the Sailfish plugins are handling the phase 2 in an EAP setup.
Browsing the web
sailfish-browser, the browser itself, abranson continues his work on making ESR153 ready for inclusion. Besides, he added a commit that allows to swipe the address bar to switch tabs.
Multimedia and sounds
qt5-qtmultimedia-plugin-mediaservice-mtkradio, a new repository where mal developped a plugin to use FM receptor / emitor with MediaTek boards.
Low level libraries
openssh, the OpenSSH implementation of SSH protocol, mal updated it to 10.5p1.ohm-plugins-misc, some plugins inherited from Nokia for the open hardware manager (OHM), jusa added a config entry specifying when a device doesn’t need an antenna for FM radio.policy-settings-common, policy rules, jusa added a feature to expose if a device doesn’t require an FM antenna for radio reception.
Developer’s corner
sdk-harbour-rpmvalidator, the harbour validation scripts, nephros modified the authorisation in Harbour store for RPM spec file to allowRequiresof the formqml(Import.Name)for the already authorised components.toh-designs, a repository to store The Other Half hardware developments, thejiral added his 3D files for magnetic mounts.gcc, the GNU compiler collection, mal proposed to upgrade it to 13.5.busybox, a single binary which includes versions of a large number of system commands, mal suggested to use a patch from Fedora to allow to build without CBQ support, which has been removed from kernel 6.8.symbiosis, a daemon to expose The Other Half functionalities, Tomin1 used the bus address to get the character device used for I2C communication. He also ensured that the daemon service is started after a user session has been established. He proposed an example implementing an I2C speed test.

Super happy to hear that teat group already has new version! I hope changing the audio routing will also fix the Xperia 10 III audio problem ones and for all. This would lead immediately to +1 Sailfish user. But of course I’m most excited of all bug fixes for Jolla phone!
