We’ve been extensively analysing the issue based on the reports, noted in particular in this very thread. First of all, very much thanks @Kanthal et al for your extensive reports and comments in regards, it has helped us greatly in analysing the issue and finding the potential root cause.
For the moment we’re mainly suspecting that the issue is specific to certain HW units which have been improperly calibrated by the display vendor. Calibration is done according to our target specification and is individual for each display unit. If there has been mistake during the calibration, it may lead to reported symptoms. In other words, such display is not necessarily itself (HW) defective.
If this proves to be the case, there is potentially a SW calibration fix which can be applied. However, word of warning here: calibrating the display unit may NOT BE POSSIBLE with OTA SW update. We’re analysing the root cause and will update information as we can.
Also, the above DOES NOT mean that there couldn’t also be HW defective units among the reported cases. Such cases naturally fall under warranty repairs.
For the moment, we recommend to continue using the affected devices normally as, while the issue being annoying, it does not make the device unusable and it is safe to continue use the phone normally.
