Is there any kind of partnership between jolla and sony?

is there any kind of partnership between jolla and sony beyond what is proposed in

Not really. Why do you ask?

just simply because i had like to know
and maybe understand the troubles reported here about the most recent devices
i own an xa2 ultra
and what bout you?

There is no partnership.
I have an xperia 10 v and almost nothing works well or at all.
The camera does not work, the fingerprint sensor does not work, the battery indicator does not work, the flashlight does not work, and, worse of all, there is no official information from Jolla about the status of anything.
And then there are the things that break and need a phone restart (which is a small adventure in itself).

If you are looking for a new daily driver, stick to the phones for which they ask software licenses. Anything else is unusable as a main phone; only useful as a secondary toy.

I wish I could recommend you to buy the hideously fugly official C2 phone, but I cannot.
However, the C2 is by far your best chance of getting some semblance of a daily driver in the forseeable future.

Just to add, the battery indicator does work if you flash v4b blobs.

A list of bugs is not status.
I can make that list myself (which I already mostly did in 1 minute, actually).

Status is “we are working on this list of bugs in this order and will first fix this in x weeks, then that in y weeks, then the other in z weeks, we are waiting for this thing from Sony and will post status updates next week”, not a list of bugs unchanged for years to which you are adding some more bugs with every new OS version.

Are there official instructions for that somewhere?
I am willing to do any officially announced things.

Is there any official release already? So why should there be an official instruction?

I’m not aware of any official instructions to flash the v4b blobs specifically, but as Fellfrosch said, there is also no official Sailfish release (with a license) for the 10V. It should also be remembered that so far Jolla is working on this entirely for free, they have taken a grand total of 0 to develop the 10V port.

I can understand complaining about paid software developed by a large software company that has plenty of money on hand to fix problems. I cannot understand complaining about a free port for a mobile operating system that the developers have VERY clearly communicated is still in development, that is also made by a company which is frankly in a poor financial situation.

There are official instructions on how to install the test version of Sailfish OS on xperia 10 v.
How do you think I have Sailfish OS on the phone?

Do not confuse “official” with “release”.

Like I said to the other fellow, do not confuse “official” with “release”.

Also, do not conflate “advice” and “warning” with “complaint”.

Cambridge Dictionary:
complaint; noun; a written or spoken statement in which someone [that’s you!] says that somebody [Jolla] has done something wrong [example: has not fully documented the beta build] or that something is not satisfactory [example: the 10V does not work well].

I have an xperia 10 v and almost nothing works well or at all.

Anything else is unusable as a main phone; only useful as a secondary toy.

not a list of bugs unchanged for years to which you are adding some more bugs with every new OS version.

Please get back to me if you have any further questions regarding the English language.

AGAIN, do you really think that after two weeks on this forum you are in a position to teach long standing community members how things go?

Even worse you want to tell us the difference between a release and official. While you can combine these two words, they have nothing in common and you can use them both separately and on their own. One of them is a noun the other an adjective. While Jolla released a build for the Xperia 10 V, how do you come to the conclusion this is official???

Here

is clearly stated:

However, there is no licence for the Xperia 10 IV (XQ-CC54) and 10 V (XQ-DC54) yet. Their free trial images can be downloaded from the 4.6.0 image folder.

A free TRIAL image you can hardly call official. But even if, it is and stays a Trial image.

So PLEASE, stop talking rubbish and start to think before you write!

I’m sorry, what relevance does having an older user on some forum have for confusing “official” and “release”?

Explaining to someome who is looking for a phone that there are issues with newer phones automatically means “complaining” in your dictionary?

I guess we should never warn anybody about anything or you will bring down upon them the wrath of an improperly used dictionary :joy:

@iolala
excuse me but your answer is out of the subject of my question in the first post of this thread
i did never say that i “was looking for a phone”

Why are you asking to be excused?

In your second post you said you want to understand the problems with the newer phones and you mentioned you have an older phone.
It’s easy to understand from that message that you are probably looking for a new phone.

So, you are not looking for a new phone?

OK I’m going to start off by pointing out that it seems you are arguing for the sake of it and as such I’m not going to entertain it past this message.

First off, you were the one originally being pedantic about word choice, so then I simply pointed out that it was correct, according to a well respected dictionary. Not really sure how that’s improperly using it but I don’t think you’re saying that in good faith anyway, so moving on.

And I’m going to go a bit meta here: arguing about the 10V beta build as if Jolla is somehow obligated to support it and provide everyone with full status updates on it entirely for free is not helpful at all. Everyone knows it would be ideal for them to be more communicative over it but I also respect that none of us have paid them for it, that they are human beings who have lives outside of development, and that they are not at fault for the blobs situation in the first place. I really do not think this is productive for anyone.
