Enabling AppSupport for Sony Xperia 10 IV and 10 V

Many of you have been asking AppSupport for Sony Xperia 10 IV and 10 V.

We’re happy to inform that AppSupport alongside with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Exchange (ActiveSync) are now available for Sony Xperia 10 IV and 10 V :tada: . You need a Jolla account to download these from the Jolla Store on your device.

To compensate the delays, we offer to discount the subsription fees (normally 4.99€/month) for the first 6 months for any orders made by end of April.

You may always freely choose to support Sailfish OS development and community efforts with the 24.90€ support package from shop.jolla.com.

Would you please confirm that the E24.90 licence in the link below will act as a legitimate lifetime licence for a 10iv/10v device licence, just as has been the norm with buying device licences for the 10iii and previous?

I have no current intention of buying a 10iv/10v, but if that will function as a legitimate lifetime device licence for one of those devices then i’ll buy one right now! Happy to do so as a monetary incentive to keep this sales model alive for the 10vi when that arrives soon tm

This type of lifetime subscription does not exist any more for devices that come after Xperia 10 III.

But you can always pay 4.99eur for one month, and then stop your subscription until you want to have access to another update and pay again 4.99 at that moment.

In the meanwhile, while updates will not be available while your subscription is paused, you will still keep access to Android App Support and other goodies (Microsoft and typing support).

You can read about how it is in this thread (see the ‘solved’ answer):

No, 24.90€ is not lifetime license for 10 iv nor 10 v devices. The one-time-fee (perpetual) Sailfish license for Xperia 10 IV and 10 V will be announced separately.

You get discount for the subscription fees (normally 4.99€/month) for the first 6 months for any orders made by end of April – valued 29.94€. That said, if you like you may still choose to support Sailfish OS development and community efforts with 24.90€ support package.

Very nice, I will try it out this evening. Is predictive text input also included?

Did anybody already tried if the camera is working in an android app?

No predictive text.

No it’s not.

Can’t install Android App Support on Xperia10 V. First a spinning circle and text “waiting” until the message says there’s a problem in the store and a problem with the installation. Same with Microsoft Exchange.

There was slight hickup with the repositories, should be working now.

that should not be true. a number of us complained in that thread, and in other threads it was later strongly represented to us that a lifetime device licence would still be offered for future jolla supported devices.

if that is no longer true I want it clarified now.

Perpetual licences were also promised in the Love Day 2 post:

Disappointing if true that Jolla has gone back on their word. I don’t mind paying a single licence even for software that only works half the time. But I was not lead to believe I’d have to pay a subscription.

I don’t see where Jolla would have been going back on their word here. I haven’t seen any particular price announced for the perpetual license for IV and V — however it should be pretty safe to assume that price is not going to be 24,90€ (i.e. the current license price for legacy Xperia devices) considering that equals roughly 5 months of subscription fees.

@rainemak I’m sorry for being so lame but where can I buy all the good stuff for 10V? Somehow I was not able to find it in the shop…

thx in advance!

Currently AppSupport is available for download from the Jolla Store, without purchase, as long as you are signed into your Jolla Account.

Use microG: Installing microG on Sailfish OS
I’ve tried it yesterday evening and all my “life apps” have been installed without problem

@rainemak I belive this app support likewise the os release for Xperia 10 IV&V are still in beta tests?

I’m asking because it is really important to me knowing, before I set up my device, that there will be another release needed to be flash again to resolve issues with camera, fringerprint and so on with new sony blobs or current state is ok and just need a bit of polishing&updating?

thank you, no problem.

that’s fine. when you do release a perpetual device license for the 10iv or 10v I will buy it. i may even use it one day.

but what i am happy to do in the interim is support jolla via [my] preferred business model (in the hope you are encouraged to continue it to the 10vi).

I do not like renting my phone.

Androidapp does not settle down and Exchange either. I do not understand the ad when we go to the site of Jolla there is no license. For IV or the v.

You need a Jolla account to download these from the Jolla Store on your device.

  • First go to Settings → Accounts → Add account → Jolla
  • After signing in open Jolla Store app on your device and scroll to end and open Jolla category
  • Tap App Support / Microsoft Exchange and select “Install” from the pull down menu
