I get you, but I also like the idea of exploiting Google’s own work against itself in the form of enabling useful apps outside of the Googleverse. When organizations (finally) see that ‘easy’ and ‘cheap’ development paths are actually neither, then the dividends will be reaped. As recently as today I was faced with colleagues who received the right information too early and weren’t able to understand that it was important. In the meantime it’s important for us to be constructive as well as vigilant.

Sort of…
Banks need to have contract with the card issuer companies (MC/Visa/Amex/etc.) to be able to virtualize (“digitalize” in their terms) a card. Banking apps can transfer card data to Google Wallet without physical presence of the card. In addition, Google Wallet has a security gate function: you should unlock the phone to enable NFC communication. I don’t know how it can be done in case of individual/external NFC chips.
There are 3rd party services (eg.Tapster, https://gotapster.com) to put the card data into an NFC chip, but AFAIK all those require some kind of Andoid/iOS apps.
Couldn’t Jolla and Wero team up to create a native SFOS app for direct bank payments? Wero already has PSD2 certification to access bank accounts, and Jolla could provide the technical support for NFC/QR code integration.
This would allow payments without relying on card networks or banking apps.
A win-win for both ecosystems

I didn’t mean a simple card slot in a case, but rather a TOH with a dedicated NFC chip and an accompanying app for a payment service where you can connect your payment card. Ie the app connects to the NFC chip through the I3C port to do authentication etc.
I’m not sure exactly how this would work with payment standards etc. Perhaps it could work with a prepaid balance and then make the payment anonymous as well.
Edit: having just read the post on Sailwero, I think that would be the preferred route.

What makes that any better than using the built-in nfc/rfid chip? Almost certainly nothing.
Thank you all for your valuable comments and input. Let’s try to keep this thread for the Work Group. I mean general discussion about payments is good, but maybe more beneficial on other banking threads.
We need to gather people together that have contacts to actors/agents in payment and banking sector.
Edit: Flow chart and the link to it REMOVED, the Work Group has proceeded to other methods.
And the ING app is one, which works with waydroid and appsupport!
If available, in Nextcloud it’s possible to install diagram app, if not simply share drawio file. Diagramming - Apps - App Store - Nextcloud

The general idea with this thread is to create a Work Group which will be in contact with various actors/agents/companies in banking/payment services. Please, if we can hold discussions about specific apps in another thread as there are few where apps general working and so on - is discussed.

Calling if somebody has a possibility to share the file on a server?
I can try of course to host it on my NAS (Synology) but I need to study a bit how it is done in a safe and reliable way…
Alternatively, use Markdown (with Mermaid) and store it in the Codeberg repository; it’s a bit technical but handy for having a central hub for the group.
P.S.: I could convert this personal repository into an organisation repository to share access rights.
