Sailfish OS update from Jolla
It’s fortnight newsletter time again and this fortnight doesn’t make a different – we have been super busy but yet again, we have a good round of updates and insights. Surely, we have the usual interesting Harbour news and Repository roundup by @vige and @dcaliste respectively.
This week Tuesday (October 6 2026) COSS – the Finnish Centre for Open Systems and Solutions awarded Jolla with the Open World Hero 2026 award. The award was handed over in connection with the annual international Mindtrek technology conference in Tampere.
This is a great recognition not only for our work, but for the entire open Sailfish Community. We are very honoured to accept this on behalf of ourselves and our community, and we promise to continue our long-term work to promote a more open mobile environment. The popularity of the new Jolla Phone shows that Europe, in particular, has changed irreversibly in this area over the last two years.
– says company’s CEO and co-founder, Sami Pienimäki
We’re proud to honour and host the award in our offices until next year Mindtrek. As noted by Sami, Jolla is just the humble receiver here and the credits shall go to all of us together, the Sailfish Community

Jolla Phone delivery update
We are happy to note that the Batch #3 shipments are going well, without major hinderes appeared thus far, and are in a good pace with the current velocity to get completed around October 20 - as noted in our post Two weeks ago.
As we have managed to get shipments rolling out rather nicely after the initial ramp-up phase (and some tech hicups), we start to have time to think other topics that have not received all the attention that those would have deserved – continuation of the Jolla Phone Roadshow being one. The first of-a-kind, after the Day1 in Helsinki, will be the Stockholm event on October 22. We picked a low-hanging fruit to start with as we are attending a partner event in Stockholm on October 20-21. The venue should still be confirmed but the proposed The Flying Horse looks and sounds good. We’ll create a separate new topic for the European Roadshow Series and start collecting all your great suggestions across the Europe under one topic. Big thanks for your input and help - we simply couldn’t organize these without you ![]()
One very interesting finding that we recently discovered is that the display hue issue could possibly be fixable with a software update even as an OTA update. We are currently confirming the fix. If the fix is confirmed good from our end, we’ll approach few of you individually to test the fix before we roll it out for all Jolla Phone users.
Once again, huge thanks for all the analysing and investigation work you all have done regarding the display issue.
Sailfish OS
This Sailfish OS 5.2.0.18 update has been baking for a while now and it does have quite good set of fixes stacked up. Probably most notably the audio problems on the older devices have been sorted out, and we are getting ready to publish 5.2 to all supported devices.
We will still prepare at least one update and try to figure out what is wrong with the IPv6 mobile data that some of you have reported.
Harbour news
The Harbour queue keeps getting longer, it’s a bit over 6 weeks now. There are plenty of new apps in the queue, and most of them seem to be written using AI tools. Which is not a bad thing in itself, it’s great to have more native Sailfish applications! But the downside is that the queue keeps getting longer and longer.
AI Companion
AI Companion is yet another AI chat application. The twist on this one is that it has access to your device so it can tell you how much battery you have left.
