[Release notes] Tampella 5.0.0.77 - EAS - Early Access

This is a update release in the Sailfish OS 5.0.0 series.
Many thanks to you our active contributors for your feedback and proposals.

5.0.0.77 release highlights

This update only affects the Microsoft 365 and Exchange account integrations, so if you are not using those, then there is no changes compared to 5.0.0.76.

Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync 16.1

As you may know, Microsoft has ended support for clients using the older Exchange ActiveSync protocols, and the roll-out of that change has already affected some of you.

We have got the 16.1 protocol update in a usable state now, but there are still some known (and possibly unknown) issues.

  • Recurring calendar event exceptions might not sync properly in all cases.
  • Calendars get multiplied, i.e. in Calendar app → Manage calendars, you can see multiple instances of same calendar.

Both of those issues can usually be cleared by disabling and re-enabling the calendar sync in the account settings.

If you encounter other issues, report them in this thread, and we’ll then consider which of them warrant a separate bug report thread.

And please, try to keep this thread strictly on topic to make our life easier

Debug logging

In case of issues, enabling the debug logging in related components can help investigate the situation.

Instructions on how to do that can be found from here

Note that the debug logs regarding email, contacts, and calendar can contain a lot of personal information, so do review them carefully before sharing.

I seem to haven 2-3 entries of the same entry. Checking a bit further…

Worked on my 10V. Will test on 10III tomorrow. I have emails and contacts again! Hooray!!!

Thank you!!!

I am seeing calendar duplicates and will the recommended solution for that and report back.

Xperia 10 III updated fine. Both email and calendar are working again. I still have duplicate calendars, even after disabling/enabling sync.

Unfortunately, I still can’t log in to my msn.com email using Microsoft Exchange. The last time my email worked was probably over a year ago. When I type in my email address, username, and password, it searches for the settings on the server for a long time (a spinning circle) but can’t find them. After that, when I type in the server address (outlook.office365.com) and port (993) in the “server” section, it returns the error message “There was a problem validating your login information. The account could not be created”.

6 posts were split to a new topic: Why Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync?

Worked fine on my C2, will be testing this with some accounts. Thank you

Update from .76 to .77 also absolutely fine on my X10iii. I was also curious if this would fix the problem with adding an account with an @outlook.com domain using the M365 type account. Sadly, it still doesn’t work for me, so I still don’t have the ability to sync that MS account to my phone - this hasn’t worked since Microsoft turned off their basic authentication support (was that what it was called? Sometime last year?), which broke the older EAS account type. Maybe a fix for this might arrive at some point? Thanks for all the updates recently though!

Thanks @Jolla for the update! This time I skip because I don’t need and use the M365 stuff and therefore my vote.
Good luck!

Yes, it’s known that the @outlook.com accounts still do not work. I don’t know about @msn.com, but might be the same issue with those.

X10III Updated from .76 for the heck of it, as I don’t use MS/EAS.
Update went fine.

Thanks Keto. Can I ask if you think the outlook.com account problems are likely to be fixable at some point in the future? Thanks again to the whole team for all the recent updates!

Thank you for your work. I voted on the fourth option because I don’t need MS. Accidentally I touched the screen and .77 is now downloaded, but not installed.

To be sure, should be the calendar sync disabled, not the whole account. Also exit and re-enter the account settings page before enabling, I think the changes are only applied when exiting the page.

Did exactly that, but the extra calendars are still there.

Thanks for tip to tesokve duplicate calendar entries.

I went into Settings > Accounts > M365 > disabled calendar sync option.

I then went back, did same for 2nd M365 account.

Then long-press each M365 entry, selected “Sync” from context menu.

Go back into each account and enable calendar sync.

Sync each account again.

Closed Settings app.

Viewed calendar and duplicates gone but all correct calendar events remained.

Clearly this functionality isn’t on use by everyone, but for work and personal life, I have a lot in calendar appointments to schedule my day. Having each of those appointments duplicated multiple times was like a scheduling DDoS attack on my calendar. It is appreciated to have that working properly again. Thank you!

Extras did disappear for me with calendar disable / enable approach.
