5.0.0.76 release highlights
AppSupport update
AppSupport is updated to Android version 13 now on all supported devices.
NOTE: If you have installed Google services in AppSupport, you need to uninstall those before updating.
MicroG is OK with the update, and does not require any changes.
Since the previous .73 release that was published only to Early Access users, we got the AppSupport 13 update tested also on the older 32bit devices, i.e. Xperia XA2 and 10.
So now all the supported devices will be on the same AppSupport version.
Bug fixes
- Fixed contact updates leaking to AppSupport, even if contact sync was disabled
- Search services in browser, particularly on fresh profile, are initialized correctly and work now.
- Xperia 10 IV/V audio recording and USB audio device handling was fixed.
- One Drive backup was fixed.
- Don’t allow % character in device lock code, as it’s not available in boot unlock keypad.
- wpa_supplicant was fixed to work with older kernels to allow updating Sailfish on some community ported devices
And also including here the fixes that were already in .73 release, as that was not released to all users.
- AppSupport
- Ensure proper shutdown after container crashes, so that restart works correctly.
- Improve VoIP audio handling, e.g. audio calls in Whatsapp, Signal and others.
- Several fixes in VPN connectivity and updates to PPP and L2TP backends.
- Several fixes to Non Graphical Feedback Daemon (ngfd) crashes.
- These may have been the reason for random missing alarms and such.
- oFono (telephony stack)
- Some security fixes backported from upstream
- Network signal strenght reporting fixed
- Call forwarding settings handling fixed
- IPv6 default route handling fixed
- SMS sending issue when VoLTE is enabled fixed
- Option for mouse input rotation.
Known issues
Some things reported so far by the Early Access users
- Possibly degraded video playback performance in Android apps on Xperia XA2 and 10
- OneDrive backup might still be broken / other issues with OneDrive integration
- The network signal strength might now report lower values than expected
Work in progress
Bluetooth in AppSupport
We communicated early January that we are working on enabling Bluetooth for Android apps in AppSupport.
There has been good progress, but it is not quite there yet. So unfortunately you still need wait for that a bit longer.
Exchange ActiveSync update
As you may know, Microsoft has ended support for clients using the older Exchange ActiveSync protocols, and the roll-out of that change may already have affected some of you.
Work on updating our account integration to EAS 16.1 protocol has gone well. But there are
still some issues, at least in the calendar synchronization, that we are trying to iron out.
So it did not make it yet to this release, but target is to have it out in a week or two.
