[Release notes] Tampella 5.0.0.29 for Jolla C2

Maybe Jolla is future proofing just to be safe for many years to come, or Jolla knows that something big is coming in the next year or two, that requires extra space on C2.

Unfortunately I have discovered, that Sailtrix stopped working with this release.
After entering my credentials it says: Cannot create secret collection
On 5.0.0.21 it was running without any problems.
Since all android-apps still have no internet via mobile connection sailtrix was my choice as matrix-messenger. Also I’d love to have as much as possible native apps instead of using android ones.

It still is a dilemma what to accept and what not. The Reeder is by far not ‘the only device you will need’ as promised in the video.
Due to Android 13 some features improved such as Tuta(nota) mail.
All depends on Jolla’s capacity to fix the bugs.

I have set the mobile function on 2,5 G. Calls can come in now but only on screen. No sound. Have to remove my sim. This really needs to be solved.
Because I couldn’t find a proper radio app in Jolla store, I downloaded Transistor from FDroid, a good radio app. No sound at all.

In my C2 no sounds too for incoming calls. Sounds are working when I test sound tone, but still no sound when calling comes.

Do you know AllRadio from Storeman? At least for the future. At the moment (i think) it’s not adapted for the brand new SFOS verdion.

Of course. I use this app on my XA2 plus, together with the Transistor app. I can’t install Storeman on C2 and AllRadio has disappeared from Jolla Store. I tried ro install Chum but did not succeed.
More apps disappeared from Jolla store.

Another alternative is Sailwave from openrepos. And you have the possibility to use the Mediaplayer for online radio

I think, to install Storeman, you have to set your device to an earlier version using ssu re (version) and then run the storeman installer. And if THIS will run at THIS MOMENT, that’s a good question (no idea…). But maybe worth a try as an experiment.

What trouble did you had? It works for many of us.

It worked for me hint from throwaway69.

They didn’t disappeared. They are not build for 64-bit architecture and they don’t show up.

The problem with the camera when video recording remained, too. So I tried today to make a short video and immediately after pressing on record, the camera app stucked in the first picture captured and app hung until restarting the app.

For chum I installed the noarch repo from github and than you can via pkcon search and install apps.

No problems with the update.

And what ssu re did you set to make it work?

edit: @JoshStrobl stated below: go into the Settings in the Chum GUI app and setting the Sailfish OS version to 4.6.0.15. That did the trick for me.

AllRadio is not good enough?

She said earlier that AllRadio is disappeared from Jolla Store.

edit: AllRadio (new build + aarch64) by adel is available on OpenRepos
https://openrepos.net/content/adel/allradio-new-build-aarch64

But installing on C2 would be an experiment or research project.

This worked for me, thanks for linking it so it didn’t end up getting buried. Saw another comment about making sure to go into the Settings in the Chum GUI app and setting the Sailfish OS version to 4.6.0.15. That did the trick for me. Able to grab apps like Hydrogen now, very exciting.

Nothing special I let it on 5.0.0.29 … So here the output of my ssu re after installing bind-utils and testing nslookup

AllRadio is fine. When available I choose it again.
