[release notes] Koli 4.0.1

How do you mean this is about this particular release, as opposed to Sailfish OS in general?
External headsets and mics work just fine for me, both over 3.5mm and USB. If you open a thread about it i’ll even tell you the details (not that i had to do anything, but still).

:open_mouth:I didn’t say that. I said

Because I thought that external microphones never worked on Sailfish X when recording with the native camera system application.

In any case, I’m sorry I assumed my problem was common.

Oh, and thank you for your offer to help me. I accept it. But before I open a new thread, I’ll try to do some more testing. If I don’t succeed, I’ll follow your advice :slightly_smiling_face:

I throw in the towel. I’m going to start a separate thread to expose my problem. But first I ask: Could it be that this issue with my XA2 Ultra dual SIM only affects this specific Xperia?

If the issue you refer to (i assume you mean usb audio, but can’t be sure) does not relate to changes in this particular update, please ask it elsewhere.

Edit: Jorvikku asked kindly for people to stay on topic (this update), i tried to explain to you that you were off topic… but yet here we are.

I think you are being very rude and insufficiently rigorous.
As I just said,

Install mcetools (pkcon install mce-tools) and then, type:

mcetool --set-demo-mode=on

This will ignore your Settings setting and keep the display on forever. The same command ending in “off” will revert to the default setting.

Someone knows about an extra thread for an issue that some android apps don’t work?
not that with aliendalvik control.
By my xa2+ some android app don’t work not all.
Strange is that by those which don’t work, the setting button by dedicated button of app in sailfish-setting leads to a wrong part of the android setting.
The one which works leads to the correct part of the android setting…

Hello,

The SailfishOS 4.0 release is really nice
But, Jolla, you really need to bring back the native bash and all the other gnu tools by default, seriously.

I have a problem with updating my Xperia X Dual SIM, this post says more but it seems that during the update it tries to download the ohm-configs-default-1.2.6-1.2.6.jolla.armv7hl.rpm package anyway without success which breaks the update process. Is there any way to deal with this?

problematic part:

edit
I also did a test

ssu re 4.0.1.48
version --dup

No success. Then I downloaded the ohm-configs-default-1.2.6-1.2.6.jolla.armv7hl.rpm file to /home/.pk-zypp-dist-upgrade-cache/packages/jolla/oss/armv7hl/ then again

ssu re 4.0.1.48
version --dup

And this time it worked. Case close.

I am a bit surprised that 4.0.1.48 is released to all while xmpp is still broken which is a major regression.

Thanks for this bookmark tip. Is there something similar to restore open browser tabs after the upgrade? Or back them up before updating?

That command copies the browser profile from the old location to the new, so it should’ve worked.
Perhaps you had the browser open when you ran the command, and it caused an issue? If so closing the browser and repeating the command should copy your old session files across.

ow to get the gnu again in 4.1. is it possible? @ced117

You could just login to you phone and call

devel-su zypper install gnu-bash

It will ask you whether it should replace busybox-symlinks-bash.

trying to downmload 4.0.1.48 , says that I haveto uninstall
feature-xt9
jolla-kandwriting
jolla-xt9
jolla-xt9-cp
libcontentaction-qt5
nemo-qml-plugin-contentaction
patterns-sailfish-xt9

is this a joke??

Does this happen when you try to upgrade to Sailfish OS 4.0.1.48? If yes, this is a known issue, have a look in the release notes and comments at the top of this thread.

I was hit by the same issue on my Xperia X Dual SIM and multiple attempts to update failed with “try again” message on the flashing screen. Your post helped me sail through!

@jovirkku Cleared learned words option is missing under Text Input settings.

I have the button in Settings > Text Input (in Finnish it’s Tekstinsyöttö) but mine is a fresh flash to 3.4.0 and Ann update from there.

Perhaps your update isn’t complete, for whatever reason… Have you tried running (iirc) sfos-upgrade --verify? You can find the package in Openrepos.
