The Sailfish OS translations for most parts are done as a community effort. And in order to maintain the quality of the translations, coordinators who are fluent in their respective languages are required.
A language coordinator is a person who has permissions to submit translations, and review suggestions made by others. More details on the coordinator role can be found from the L10N section of the Sailfish OS documentation.
Below is a list of current languages and their coordinators, and as you can see we are lacking coordinators on several languages. If you would like take the lead on a certain language (or step down from that role), post a reply in this thread, or send a direct message to me (@Keto)
(? after a coordinator means that they have not been active in a while)
Official languages
These are the languages currently included in language packs shipped with Sailfish OS.
I’m not an active user of Sailfish anymore. And don’t visit or update the Dutch translation that much. So not sure if it is was to keep me as a coordinator.
I am not actively using Sailfish OS now. I don’t know when I will be back. Feel free to remove me from being the Malayalam language translation co-ordinator and pass it on to a more active user instead.
It’s been about nine months since I expressed interest in becoming a language coordinator, and I’ve now completed most of the Japanese translations. All that’s left is to upload the files, but still, no one is reviewing them. So, will you please make me a language coordinator?
I don’t see Norwegian Nynorsk (no-nn) mentioned anywhere, Norway’s second written language. Has this language been suggested so far? I can take on coordinator, as I just translated the new Nordic social media app Hudd to Nynorsk. 25 years in IT and prior experience from OneHourTranslation.com as a freelancer.
I’m fairly new fairly new to the platform and have translated about 25 3td party apps to Norwegian bokmål. I would love to see Nynorsk being supported.
Yes, there is. I just found this forum last night and joined the group on Hudd a few days ago. Feel free to connect on Hudd, and update the group with a link to this forum.
