EDIT: At least I’m happy to pay the premium for privacy and user experience. It’s also a small price to pay for an opportunity to get rid of user spying mobile OS’s. 
It was confirmed already back in December, that assembly will take place in Salo, Finland, at the old Nokia campus.

If it’s the specs you’re after and an Android phone would be okay, then that option was on the table last year, too. Maybe the premium over what a comparably-equipped commodity phone would cost isn’t going to buy what you’re looking for in a handset. It’s what I want, but it’s definitely not for everyone. I don’t think either you or I would pay extra for a Swarovski-edition blinged-out Razr – which actually exists – but to someone it’s worth it, and that’s ok. Your money, my money, their money . . . it’s all hard-earned and meant to spend on one’s own priorities.
Then feel free to go and buy that phone from the other brand and be happy.

Sorry to hear and I understand what you mean here. But things have to put on scale. We can’t compare J2 specs to android phones as those are made in millions vs 10k units. With android phones there is also advantage as they are using OS that they don’t need to develop. We just can’t compare them apples to apples.
But I must admit, I am also little bit disappointed with memory downgrade, but I fully understand that wasn’t in Jolla’s hand.
Why wouldn’t it hold? They already assembled the Jolla Mind2 AI-assistants there and as far as I know, one of the Jolla investors owns the campus these days.
Since the idea if TOH is to be interchangeable I’d presume they will be sold separately.
They already told us about that in the 12/25 update yes:

Interesting is that Apple didn’t downgraded the memory in their iPhones or didn’t increased the prices. And before you say that they can afford it, you have to know that Apple is a company which is very very sensible when it is related to profit margins.
Can we please stopp compare companies, who sell millions of devices with Jolle, where we speak about some 10k pieces?
You can compare with other linux phones maybe, and here you will see, that JP2 is on higher level then others with comparable price.
And yet, like always from your side no arguments just bla bla bla. Tell me other linux phone please to compare. Shall we check with purism if they downgraded already their low level specs?
Men, look at Brax 3 for example. Is a very actual one eith similar philosophy running for android and linux.
Edit: please concider, brax 3 is produced with much much bigger branches and don’t have own OS, just adapted Android or Ubuntu…

Again, difference is that apple makes millions and millions of phones. They for sure have made contracts covering the future and they are big client for manufacturers. Completely different position being in compared to Jolla
