Feedback on Jolla C2

Not agree with you, mine Jolla C1 was on the firtst moment in well state without any issue, and tha same X, XA2, X10 mark 1, and X10 mark 3 none of this problems, and next remark for Jolla C1 also for Jolla Tablet, and older Jolla 1 factory images will be published not surement vi oficial channel, but it was working, thanks a lot of “Coderus”, and at lastone thanks a lot of “Zeffanyx” :v:

The problem is, despite many troubles Jolla/Sailfish can exist for years with the support of a dedicated fanclub. But in it’s contemporary condition the chance of obtaining growth, of attracking new customers is very small. I am sorry to say. Anyway a more professional business approach is needed.

i also reflashed my JT-1501 with images from @coderus - which helped me a lot, but the images were not officially available.

maybe one day we will see C2 firmware images…

i also never had such problems like C2 spinning bug, but all my devices had a lot of bugs, which matured over time.

but the base functionality was indeed always there.

So far, I broke two iPhones - beyond the possibility to recover any data (the last one I broke was an iPhone X in May). I do not even know, how this happend. So far I never experienced such fatal defect with any SFOS device. The iPhones I broke were not rooted. IMO iPhones are not only boring but annoying. I do not trust them enymore …

Understand you, but not maybe one day, now is this time for Jolla correcting the problems of his/her own managment.

Not comparable, completely different situations, in shourtcut all of new device Jolla C2 has been shipped with the defect and Jolla knowed it, that triste for a community users and for all enthusiasm of SailfishOS.

And community know how can be solved, but it missing some of tools, now will be so helpless have a possibity reflash stock image or make a hard reset to factory status. My question is what can Jolla make for our community?

How do you know that all are? Mine and many others work nice especially as 5 is still beta.

We needing pain, that’s a philosophical/psychological/theological question. Fact is that not everyone is techsavvy, also some people just don’t have time to tinker with their devices. If we like it or not, the comfort industry is far more successful than the ‘pain industry’.

A device without option to reflash at home is absolutely ‘no go’ for me. period.

Which version of firmware? After first boot will you promted for make a update to 5.0.0.21 or you has been already?

The problem is that the comfort is paid with data. SailfishOS as an (partial) FOSS Operating System will never give as much comfort as Google / Apple. So, when we stay on SailfishOS (for different reasons like privacy, openness, European OS, GNU OS etc.) - we accept that on some edges tinkering will be necessary. Because Jolla is small company, because they don’t have the resources to fix bugs quickly.
But Jolla has very motivated community, which can help ourself and help others…

So i buy since 15 years Maemo / MeeGo / SailfishOS because i want be my own king of my smartphone.
Sure, i buy bugs which need to be solved and in some case - also very critical bugs like our beloved sniping circle of death bug.

Again: This is only my own opinion…

I so agree with you, that exactly what i have meaned at 100% with you. Juste two option reflash or hard reset like at Jolla 1, C1, Tablet, where are dispareted this option? And who didnt thinking about so basically function?

I am also unhappy with the lack of flashable images for Jolla C2.

At the moment my daily driver is Xperia 10 III which is working very stable now.
In case of Jolla C2 - @attah said its UniSoc plattform.
I have absolutely no experience with UniSoC. No idea, how firmware images, partitions etc. looks like on UniSoC devices…

Flashing is performed with

which can be downloaded for Windows :disappointed_relieved:

Lets hope we get some additional information , how and where to get firmware images later

So far, the device works for me. I wouldn’t say it works well because there are many bugs. This is my first Jolla phone, and I’m patient with it because I think that once it starts working properly, the rest are likely software bugs. The most common issue for me is that the system isn’t really smooth. Another problem is that I’ve encountered as many ‘The application is not responding’ messages as I used to see on Windows XP and 7. A restart fixes this. My LTE connection works or rather doesn’t work as others have described, but I’m waiting it out

Who in heavens name had the idea to remove factory reset button? and why? It’s essential for reliability and maintainability. After such a foolish act, this undermines confidence in Jolla.

A curious case of adding a new search engine to Jolla browser.

Noticed that C2 browser had only big corporate search engines available. No neutral search choices available (Duckduckgo, Swisscows etc.)

I Could not find an app to add other search engines to browser. Accidentally found a solution.
After visiting a search engine web page like:

Duckduckgo
or
Swisscows

I went back to browser settings and :magic_wand: visited search engine had been added to search engine list.
