Just got an Xperia 10 V and put SailfishOS 5.1 on it. I couldn’t find the Bluetooth support for Android, so I searched online and found this thread. Sad to see there was an issue with this specific phone model. Are there any tests or development ongoing? Bluetooth support in AAS would be quite important to me.
It will probably be included in 5.2.
And if you read 5.2. release notes and know a bit about old releases you’ll know that a lot of developing is going on.
But OTOH on Xperia 10 IV and V not as much as we would like.
Oh that’s great to know! Thank you!
Yes, I know SFOS development in general is going full steam ahead, I was just wondering about the support for my phone model. ![]()
I just read through the 5.2 (Jolla phone only) release notes and they contain awesome improvements! I see there are audio issues with non-Jolla phones. Do you have a rough estimate when 5.2 could come to the Xperia phones? That’s something I couldn’t find yet.
Haven’t read anything encoraging about 10 IV & V for a while. But my guestimate for others is September/October.
I’m not sure if the 10V will ever be supported on the Sony Open Devices port. The bluetooth driver just crashes too much, and sometimes breaks all radios on the device until it’s reflashed back to Android.
Is this an educated guess or has Sony Open Devices -team said something to Jolla, either directly or between the lines?
I wouldn’t be breaking any news here if I knew anything that wasn’t public, but I don’t think anything has changed on that for a long time so personally I don’t expect anything to. Would be nice to be surprised though.
What I do not understand for the 10 V: Jolla tells everytime they wait for sony to release blobs, but sony did release multiple new blobs without any sort of rebase of Jolla to the new blobs. Do they really not contain any improvements? Did anybody at Jolla even test them?
The answer you can find in the Community meeting logs.
They fix some issues, but also introduce some new issues, so there isn’t fully working AOSP-blobs out there yet.
And this is probably the reason why Jolla decided to improve SFOS generally over fighting with IV & V. Why hit head against wall for port that doesn’t have great base and neglect all improvements that SFOS need. Now that Jolla has had full focus on improvements on SFOS side we all have seen fruits of that!
Yes @mal reportly tested the Jolla port against the latest Sony blobs about a year ago.
But Sony didnt publish new blobs since about a year now.
