Probably time to think when to move Xperia 10 V to Andorid device and sell it for some low price..
10III is slowly dying. Need for working 10V is getting bigger ever day.

from this forum posts it was expected that @mal will make it and will be in awaiting 5.1 as we tried to sum 1+1 from what @rainemak said and what was written in one release notes about Jolla C2, that it will bring working camera for Xperia 10V … but again no mentioning 10V as they put head in sand again

Could it also be that IV and V are just so new that they require camera api 2 and same tricks don’t work with them?

Having a new Xperia series fully working has always been at least two years of worth waiting. After the very first official release which supports 'em.
With the IV and V now it does take a little longer.
P.S. Don’t care - one of 'em will be my next. Still in need of my 3.5mm.

Simplest answer is jolla decided it’s not worth the effort and as IV and V never were officially supported they don’t need to spend resources getting it to work, getting camera to work on completely new socs like c2 and jp2 was apparently much easier than fighting with sony
No, it is not the answer. Because if so, it should have been clearly communicated as an official statment rather than playing seek and hide with people who’ve been waiting for it since mid 2024. It’s the most basic respect (or lack thereof).

Nah, they never officially supported those handsets, why would they officially claim x or y?
Look, you’re the one who bought IV or V based on unofficial peeks/previews etc, so you might expect official statements, but jolla never officially supported either of them, expect official statements from the unofficial peekers

That is completely UNTRUE. Upcoming support for the Xperia 10 IV and V was officially announced (by Jolla CEO Sami Pienimäki himself) at the official event Jolla Love Day 2. An official roadmap was announced, with the free SFOS version for the 10 IV and V to be released within “1-2 months”, followed by commercial support available in August 2024. Pienimäki explicitly said that “IT’S AN OFFICIAL RELEASE”.

I aslo bought IV and V. I also am waiting, (maybe on the optimistic side of the waiters though) but anyways, I know the pain to have beta-state devices for now.
Still i think that there isnt any point to throw bird names and insult eachother about it.
Happened what happened. Now we can wait, either with optimism or pessimism, but no point to argue much about it and fill the forum with these fights…

Jolla’s mistake was to announce that support will come, but didn’t expect problems from Sony’s side.
Maybe that’s why we don’t hear much from them anymore before they are 100% sure.
But that aside, can Jolla do anything now? I don’t know for example if we will see meaningful updates in Sony blobs for open devices. But I know that even 10 V is officially EOL for Sony.
Just to clarify, I got 10 V around May 2024 and sold it 3-4 months later because I lost faith for this port.
Since it was a device I didn’t care to keep in my collection, I didn’t want to wait and lose money for no reason.

Jolla’s mistake is to never openly and sincerely talk with people rather than playing their seek and hide games where rainemak really does wonders to avoid talking about the 10 IV and V. It’s not the first and not the second time they act this way. And it’s simply disrespectful. Otherwise, if there was a clear communication, I would have long ago sold the 10 V (while it was still worth some money), forgotten about the whole misery and ordered J2.

I hope the heated discussion calmed down. I agree that nothing we can do and it’s rather an issue with Sony and Jolla can’t do anything about it, plus they are very busy with the preparation of the launch of their new phone… .
If you check the devices website of e/OS, you’ll notice that there are also no official releases but community ports for the Xperia 10 iv and v
It seems that it’s not the best choice either for AOSP but at least you’ll get a Google-free A16 and I would go for that if I would have an Xperia 10 iv or v.

No one ever questioned it for a single millisecond, as I guess we’re all fully aware of what’s the root cause, and absolutely no one blames Jolla for it. It was about something completely different: proper communication (or total lack thereof). But I already said that.
