Hello, Iām new to this, I hope you understand me, because Iām using a translator. It turns out that I wanted to install Saifish to the Gigaset GX4 Pro phone after installing Volla OS 12 with the Sp Flash Tool, when I tried to install Sailfish from Ubports the phone died. or Iām a complete novice and I wanted to do this without really understanding how I should do it.

Iāve been looking for a GX4 Pro with Android 12 on it, but the devices Iāve seen had already Android 14 or at least 13 installed.
Not sure if they had been updated manually or already had been shipped with those newer versions.
From having read the last posts in this thread, it seems to me that devices with Android > 12 are pretty useless for flashing them to either Volla or SF OSā¦?

It seems to me that the device with the shifted LCD lines might have some driver issue, since it already had Android 14 installed which might use different drivers - And if so, it would be pretty clear that it wonāt work, I guess?
Is there any way to downgrade Android 14 to 12?
Or should we possibly just give up on trying to flash Android > 12 devices, as it doesnāt seem to work anyway?
You could ask Gigaset support what a downgrade to Android 12 would cost. (In which countries can you order cheaply, @zero_knowledge?)
Iāve not tried to make a support request via the website or contact form yet, and I am not sure if there really is no way at all, but the guy on their support hotline said that they donāt do stuff like that, and werenāt allowed to tell me how I could do it myself either.
(But without having the Android 12 stock rom, it wouldnāt help much to know how I could do it in theory anyway I guess - if it is possible to somehow do this at home at allā¦ But maybe it would work using SPFlashtool if you would have the stock rom?)
(And regarding your question, Iām afraid I really have little more than zero knowledgeā¦ The only thing I know is you can still get a new device for around 200 ā¬ in DE - which may be cheap compared to a X23, but rather expensive for a phone with already outdated Android 14 you donāt want to use anywayā¦)

I donāt know what exactly went wrong when you tried to flash SF OS, but from having read this thread I assume your phone isnāt really ādeadā but just isnāt able to boot any more, and therefore can probably be recovered somehow.
Most people seemed to go back to Volla OS (or Ubuntu Touch) at first to revover their devices, so probably this is the way to go in the first place.
But I donāt have any experience with that, and probably others would also need some more information, for example what happens exactly when you try to power on your phone, and what you may have already tried to recover it?
Did you check if everything works (like camera, bluetooth, etc) in Volla OS, as often suggested before flashing SF OS?
And did you enable Devmode and USB Debugging and had unlocked the bootloader in Volla OS then?
And then had booted into fastboot mode in order to flash your device?
What version of UBports installer did you use?
I thought the option to install SF OS had been removed from current versions, and you would need to use the flash.sh script now?
(Maybe SF OS was removed from UBPorts installer because sometimes something goes wrong when installing SF OS and people end up with phomes that appear to be dead, so maybe installing SF OS isnāt really recommended to start with for not very experienced users. But thatās just my guess.)
Have you already tried to re-flash Volla OS 12 as you did before, or as written by other users in this thread that were able to recover their phones?

Maybe someone can help you to recover your phone if you describe which steps you have taken and what happened exactly when you did this.
Otherwise you might just read the last few pages of this thread and try if anything that worked for other people to recover their phones works for yours as well.
Also make sure your USB cable is good, maybe rather get a new one to re-flash your phone as this sometimes seems to cause trouble or even lead to dead phones as well.
Maybe also try a USB 2.0 port (or hub, if your computer doesnāt have USB 2.0 ports any more) as some people said flashing didnāt work correctly with all of their USB ports / USB 3.x

Hello, Iām sorry it took me so long to respond, I have a lot of work.
I no longer remember well all the steps I followed to flash the phone, but if I tried different USB ports, I tried two different computers as well, I also used different USB cablesā¦I used the Ubports 0.11.2 installer.
Now I seem to remember that possibly when I want to install Sailfish OS it may not activate the options for developers, I donāt know, I no longer remember well everything I did or what I didnāt do.
Maybe I forgot something else, maybe I didnāt choose the other options related to USB either.
I tried reinstalling Volla OS the same way I did the first time, using different cables and USB ports, using two different computers, but nothing worked.
In the end I bought another phone, because I also tried to contact different companies that supposedly repair phones, I explained what happened to them and they all told me that they couldnāt do anything for the phone.
Now I have the new phone again with Volla OS 12, and in fact at least, neither the camera nor the flashlight works, nor is it updated to Volla OS 13.
I would like to try installing Sailfish OS again but since Iām not sure what the error was, I donāt dare try it again.
