Yes that worked, very nice
unfortunately this artifact was deleted a year ago
is for you also video playback in the browser broken?
Hi,
sorry for being late to the party…
I’ve successfully bricked my GX4 Pro and have tried to recover somehow following the notes in here.
(bricked as in "no function at all, communication with BROM and preloader seems to work according to mtkclient)
Since there is no stock Android ROM available, I tried to follow the way via volla OS, but I can’t find the scatter file, people are mentioning all the time…
I had a look in various “vidofnir” archives under ota.volla.tech/ and volla.tech/filedump/ (this also seems to be the place ubports-installer gets the volla image according to vidofnir_esim.yml )
But I wasn’t able to locate any scatter file.
I’ve also tried the scatter file linked here, but neither of the SP-Flash tools (5/6) accepts it.
So I’m a bit lost and would appreciate any suggestions on what to try next. ![]()
(I’ve also written a mail to Gigaset to provide me the stock android. If they refuse to do so, I’ll probably go for the last resort and send it to Gigaset for a factory reset)
Me too, sadly. Video recording is also strange on the volla GS5/rephone which also don’t play youtube and co. in the browser.
I repaired a completely bricked GX4 Pro and a VP X23.
Sorry, it’s in Spanish.
Hello,
I see that the discussion here is not active anymore and that it’s been a while. I guess that is also the reason for the file on Mega not being available anymore.
I am wondering if there is a source for Sailfish for the X23 to be used by Volla Bootmamager Multiboot).
My X23 is my main/only/daily used device. That’s why a multiboot setup would be the best for me.
I bought the device because of the promissing logos of Sailfish and also Droidian on the Volla website and the multiboot promise…
As Volla OS is Android without Google but with the typical Android behavior and Ubuntu Touch stopped updating and being not really reliable I want to test Sailfish (and after reading much do far: also switch to it). Droidian is also not available for the X23 (yet)…
Would be nice to get some hints - thanks in advance…
Lucas
Thanks, but all the links are dead ![]()
I have sent the thing to Gigaset and payed 25€.
They have flashed Android 14 on it. However the current Sailfish port seems to be based on halium 12, so that’s not compatible if i understand correctly.
Is there any recommended solution to my problem? I don’t have access to the stock android 12 image and I’m afraid to brick it again if I flash it with an incompatible halium version. ![]()
You could try flashing it anyway, i shop vendor as part of the image so it might be ok.
thanks!
I wanted to give it a try, but it looks as if Gigaset locked my bootloader when they unbricked my device:
fastboot flashing unlock
FAILED (remote: 'Prohibit unlock operation’)
I’ve tried to unlock using mtkclient, but that didn’t work neither.
Does anyone know how to unlock that thing?
do you have to enable the option first in android developer options?
oh boy, of course.
I forgot the most basic thing after spending hours with all the other stuff.
Thanks a lot for the pointer.
I was able to flash it (tried both ubports and your latest release Releases · HelloVolla/sailfish-release-halium-vidofnir · GitHub ), but in both cases I only get a black screen after the volla boot logo…
The X23 is not updated to a new naming convention for repos. Please edit /usr/share/ssu/features.d/community-adaption.ini and change the repos to
[repositories]
adaptation-community = https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/testing:/hw:/volla:/halium-vidofnir:/%(releaseMajorMinor)/sailfishos_%(releaseMajorMinor)_%(arch)
adaptation-halium = https://repo.sailfishos.org/obs/nemo:/testing:/hw:/halium:/12:/%(releaseMajorMinor)/sailfishos_%(releaseMajorMinor)_%(arch)
Delete community-adapation-halium.ini

This will also fix the fingerprint sensor.
Thanks a lot for your work!
I’ve tried both User release 5.0.0.71 - 4 and release-devel-5.0.0.71-pgz1 and while it does boot and show the home-encryption-screen, the display content is shifted left/right depending on the lcd line.
It’s the same for the recovery (attached).
Err, ive never seen that before!!
Haha, well there’s always a first time, i guess ![]()
The volla boot logo shows up fine and the Recovery Menu works fine as well.
I’ve managed to click something on the home-encryption-screen and now it’s just (animated) vertical lines.
As written above, Gigaset did a factory reset with Android 14, and I’ve tried to flash SF two weeks ago via ubports installer and then via the flash-script in the previous release package.
This time I used exclusively your script.
Maybe that broke something?
(I do embedded linux for a living, but I never got my head around all that android/smartphone stuff)
Or it could just be different hardware.
It’s a (non-volla) GX4 Pro, E940-2797-01
