Switching between 2 apps more easilly (eg password manager)

Since password managers are often android support apps …
I would find it very convenient to make it mor easy to switch between two apps (the former and the current)

This would maybe be more easilly to achieve than full android support for pw managers

Is swiping from the right screen edge (to get to home) and then tapping the app you want to switch to not easy enough?

Would be ok BUT i often have just black rectangles there (no name of the app) or screenshot

If i had a name or the start icon it would do the job

well, as the link I posted above shows, you only have to type dconf write /desktop/sailfish/experimental/quickAppToggleGesture true in the terminal to activate the described “quick app switch” gesture

You can use an Android password manager, KeepassDX (available from Fdroid) for it’s autofill feature in AppSupport, and the native ownKeepass (available from Chum) which has cover actions to make it easier to copy usernames and passwords

Only if you choose to make it so.

That’s not normal.
Please make a bug report with screenshots and check if it is limited to certain apps that somehow think they are more private than others, if you haven’t already.
Please also disregard this bug when motivating your feature request - it is not supposed to be like that.

Have you tried restarting the AAS or the phone and see if it goes away?

Hi, for the use case password manager, I find the solution that ownKeepass implemented very convenient: one can copy-paste the username first and then the password by just tapping a button on the app cover, so you just have to swipe two times to home and back.

Then it might be some kind of privacy feature the said apps use (secure promt or login screen or similar), like @attah suggested earlier.

If this happens to a particular app category, ie. apps involving exchanging money, and always to the same set of apps, I suspect this would be caused by an app registering in the system as not allowing for screenshot taking.

Some Android apps – like bank apps – use this as supposed security measure.

No, it’s not. I usually have many apps open and if one app or both apps I want to switch between are quite down in the app grid on the home screen I’ll have to scroll down the grid every time ’cause swiping to home screen always resets the grid view to the top of the app grid.

Yes.

I tried it out but I think I understand now why it us off by default. I did not feel like it sped up app switching while limiting tge options and adding complexity. That said, others might see it differently and ih is good that the option is there.
