SailfishOS subscription

Hi, I am new here.

I have a question before buying a jolla C2.

I comes with 12 Months of the SailfishOS subscription, What happens after that?

I looked around in forums and on the official site, but couldn’t find a definitif answer.

Thanks for your response.

(Sorry for any language releated mistakes, I am a non native english speaker with dyslexia).

You’ll be happy to know, nothing! The SailfishOS subscription has since been made voluntary, on top of long-term SFOS updates being free-of-charge for C2 owners with 5 years of guaranteed software support & fixes. If you like the operating system, you’re encouraged to voluntarily subscribe. No benefits are provided, aside from the warm and fuzzy feeling in your heart for supporting an option that isn’t Android or iOS!

Don’t want to hijack this thread, but for those of us that already committed to buying batch #3 of the phones, are we entitle to get the OS to try on other smartphones?

I haven’t checked downloads/links, just asking for now as would like in future to try on Sony Xperia for example.

Yes you are. Go to https://shop.jolla.com/ and click Free Trial for supported devices to get the free version that will let you try out SailfishOS on any of the supported devices.

This is the full version of the OS and you will get access to most apps. The paid version adds automatic OS updates, Android App Support and some other features. Check Support & get a licenseto see details.
