I typed that sentence, but I’m not 100% sure about it. I just don’t know enough about what a switch to RCS would mean for messaging on my device. I thought that a switch to RCS would affect how plain old SMS would work too, since T-Mo’s website promises a bunch of “enhancements” to messaging like typing notification, read receipts, etc. But SMSs – short text, no multiple-recipients, no additional media – do still seem to work coming in and going out. Would they have only switched MMS on me? I’m gonna need to beg, borrow or steal some other devices and SIMs, I guess, if I’m going to figure anything out.
Wait for the next update from mal
Ahh sorry overseen that one =] Thanks a lot !
Till then you can use OpenVPN. That should work.
Richdb & all,
maybe another quick question, is this supported on this port? I’ve read you’d need a license on SFOS for that, I’d be super happy to spend out for that indeed..
Thanks again
No, there is no Android support and also not possible to use Waydroid (maybe in the future if Waydroid upgrade their Android version?). So if you want to use SailfishOS on a Fairphone you only can use native apps and the webbrowser. And for the webbrowser is mine advice upgrade to the QT 6.x version of Angelfish (you can find the instructions on this forum).
Edit:
Here the instruction to add Angelfish
I will release the new kernel changes FP4 and FP5 including wireguard kernel support at latest during the weekend. Based on quick testing everything seemed to still work (didn’t test wireguard but checked that driver is there) but I will do a bit more testing. I didn’t yet have time to debug the wlan power consumption issue on FP5 but will check that after I have the kernel changes released.
Awesome mal! And again thank you for all the work you put in this.
@mal Did you release the new kernel changes?
The new kernel changes are now on OBS for FP4 and FP5. You can update using zypper the usual way. Changes include updating kernel to latest one from lineageos repos and enabling wireguard support and some other kernel options. Sorry for the delay. I did actually find issues during my final testing of FP5 so doing a bit more testing was good thing in the end and I managed fix the regressions I found.
How can I see that I have installed the new kernel?
From terminal as root (using devel-su) run “pkcon search droid-hal” and look for the version of droid-hal-fp4-img-boot or droid-hal-fp5-img-boot package and if the installed package has version 1.0.0-1.1.4 then you have the latest version.
uname -a
Shows also the current used kernel
Thank you, for learning me useful commands.
Latest kernel installed.
I’ve created a config file for my WireGuard setup and I run it successful on macOS and iOS. It fails when I add it through the WireGuard GUI app (WireGuard for Sailfish (Settings UI) | OpenRepos.net — Community Repository System).
Not sure what is wrong…
Update: Did the same on C2, and have the same.
Have you installed the official wireguard settings and connman plugins i.e. jolla-settings-networking-plugin-vpn-wireguard and connman-plugin-vpn-wireguard? Those are not installed by default yet on 5.0.
Was lacking the last one.
Thank You! It is working ![]()
Good to hear it works now.
Hey, thanks alot for your work. Im just having one issue its that I cannot hang up or decline calls. The button just does nothing. Is this a known issue?
I haven’t heard of such issue, I’ll have a look.
Hi! I’m a newbie here and very interested in Sailfish. I have ordered a refurbished Fairphone 2 to try it. As I understand from this topic, Android apps aren’t (yet) available on this port, but just to be sure, this also excludes open source apps from F-Droid?
Thnx!
