@martinbook85 : Every mailbox has an address. Many providers offer the option to create additional alias addresses to this main address. If someone sends a mail to this alias address, this mail is also stored and available to the owner of the mailbox in the same way as mails to the main address. Sorting/filtering must be done by mail clieent, e.g. Thunderbird.
Technically, an alias address is, that on the mail server 1. the alias address is set up as a valid address, but without an own inbox mailspace, and 2. that mails to the alias address is stored into the inbox of the main address, and 3. that mails with sender = alias address are not filtered as spam when sending mails via the SMTP server of the main address.
If you want to send a mail from an alias address, you must have several ‘identities’ set up in your mail client. An identity is an alternative set of personal data like real name, senders address, reply-to address, footer text and so on. SFOS Mail client isn’t able to do this.
GMX allows it. There you can set up alias addresses via the webmail interface, in the personal settings.
Re-installed SFOS on my 10iii, and attempted to login in yahoo address.
Succeeded using the quoted advice back in 2023, but failing this time.
For ref: the same credentials successfully login me in via the browser - just not in the email client!
Steps:
Restore backup
Go to accounts
Click into Yahoo account
Enter credentials and Accept
Completes
Go to email client - says “Updating Account”
Wait ten minutes while the sand time runs…
Eventually times out saying something like “credentials need updating”.
This has been reported on TJC six years ago and transferred to this forum five years ago. And to my knowledge, it isn’t even tracked by Jolla.
If you invest a lot of time into how this backup should have worked you can split all the components and try to restore them one by one, but you should definitely exclude e-mail from that and re-create those accounts instead.
Swipe left to delete and right to mark as read or unread insted of press and hold for the pop down menu (pop down menu could stay for other options like move to, reply or forward etc.)
I guess swipe gustures are not easy to implement together with current swipe UX.
I tho also eager to have dark theme. I usually set OS theme as darker ones, and my eyes are killed each time I open an email
I tried to reboot phone when it is showing times out error (trick from TJC) and after reboot the account is added but mail app shows Updating and that’s it.
