A post was split to a new topic: How to star an email?

i use the Sailfish email client with five accounts without any big problem (sometimes i have to reauthenticate a email account). But the missing support for a newer gpg is really invidious.

Would this be a thread to introduce ideas for the email application? Or is there a place where default system applications are discussed? Email runs super smooth but in use there are some interface kinks.

  • The “Sort by: Time or Sender or…” does not stay as selected between reboots
  • I can’t configure which folder the sent messages are stored (or I haven’t found a way).
  • I can’t copy the message subject line

When writing new mails, using + icon I can add more recipients but after opening the “three small dots” menu the + icon is for attachments (Using the same icon for to different functions is confusing). When writing new mail I’d benefit from an interface element (a ----), that separates the “To” and “Subject” etc. fields from the message body area.

When reading the font is also super tiny (I have to toggle the entire device font to read mails). The navigation between folders is confusing, I cant go “back” I always have to navigate to the main folder for a u-turn (for example FileBrowser feels more present). I’m new to Sailfish so it took a while to understand that the settings for the email client are in the are in the Accounts of the device general settings (perhaps there could be a link?).

Just a minor oddity to which I’ve long grown used, but I’m not sure if it’s ever been noted (surprisingly)
The delete button at the bottom of an email does not work if the email has been opened from a notification in eventsview. It just goes back to the folder, marking the mail as read.

I’ll test this when I get an email

Noticing from your profile you’ve been here longer. What is broadly speaking the best way to support application development on Sailfish? Like… What have you observed working as a stradegy to not stress developers, yet also voice matters in a fashion which supports the long term aims of Sailfish?

Reporting bug in details and with the respect, translation or any other contribution, donation if possible.

I agree, Sailfish mail is well organised and easy to use, while iOS mail on my ipadmini is messy.
The only thing I miss in Sailfish mail is the possibility to remove more than one message at the same time, but that would change the UI (pulley gesture). Never mind.

Thanks, makes sense. I’ll look for translation chores to get familiar with contributions.

It is still difficult to spot if issues are bugs, missing features or expect application specific workarounds. Would any of the above regrading email behaviour be good to report in the “feature request” or “bug” categories?

If I’m not misunderstanding your point, you can use the pulley menu to enter “Select emails” mode. From there, you can select multiple emails and delete them all at once. You can find more details in the documentation here:

They sure are. But in my opinion you should use a separate topic for each. That way it keeps the structure of each useful to those interested and especially to the developer.
