Hmm, maybe is worth to open a bug report with your solution as there was another report with this a few days ago IIRC. It might help devs to debug.
Thanks @phovi, that solved it for me. I was also suffering from this problem all the time, unless I read your post and found out that this switch was indeed off on my phone as well. Just had to switch it on, now I finally have mobile internet in AAS ![]()
Strange. Mobile data for AAS worked flawlessly for me for the last two releases or even more.
I had my test SIM in the second slot. Disabled. I don’t know when exactly my issues with mobile data in AAS began as I don’t often need that but I suspect it started when I removed the disabled SIM and not the 5.0.0.67 upgrade. As that happened almost simultanously.
I notice that AAS had no data on the road yesterday. I checked the AAS settings and the SIM was disabled. Then I used the mentioned double disable/enable procedure. SIM was then enabled but the Data was not. Also 3G was set which is turned off for a year and a half here. So I enabled LTE too. After restart SIM was enabled in AAS but the data was off and 3G was again set.
Need to test more.
BTW thx for the mentioned workarounds!
- 0.67 android apps cant connect to internet

Whatsapo often yes butthe rest no: aurora, tidal… nope
My sim-card settings are completly disabled. How can I activate it in the android settings?
You can’t do it there. Workarounds are mentioned in the Release notes:
It seems that the issue in my case is autostart of AAS.
Manual start works have mobile data in Andy apps always for now.
Now I have another problem: WIFI is not working with AAS anymore.
The internet connection settings of AAS (after tipping 5x on the AAS version in the settings) report that it is connected via mobile data to my carrier (congstar Germany in my case), even when the device is connected to a WIFI. Then, when I switch off mobile data in the top menu or via the SFOS settings, all android apps report that there is no internet connection.
In the connection settings of AAS it has a greyed out “Internet settings” with a question mark. And when I tip on that, it tells me that I “don’t have permissions to change WLAN settings”
After this experiment it is not enough to switch on the mobile data again in the upper menu. It wont find a connection until I switch off WIFI… only then it connects to the carrier. Afterwards I can switch on WIFI again and mobile internet stays connected. But I need to restart AAS in order to propagate this - and usually I also need to switch on the “mobile data” setting again in the SIM card settings of AAS.
It is really annoying. Needless to say that all android apps use mobile data now, even when I am connected to a WIFI.
Funny thing though: android apps can access IPs inside the connected WIFI, if it is the first in the connection list. For instance I can access the IP of my fritz box from Fennec just fine, when I am connected to my home WLAN, which is the first in my list. But of course the http://fritz.box address, which usually resolves to this IP, does not work.
Now I have another problem: WIFI is not working with AAS anymore.
Okay, this problem disappeared today.
I was connected to another WIFI and it worked there. So I took the opportunity to examine the difference between this WIFI and my home WIFI, and I recognized that my home WIFI was labeled as “restricted access”. Which is kind of funny, though.
When I opened the network details I saw that there was no gateway configured. Furthermore I saw in the “edit” section that the proxy was set to “autoconfigure” with a funny “wpad.fritz.box/wpad.dat” address, which I’ve never seen before. When I turned the proxy setting off altogether and saved this, the network got labeled as “connected”, and suddenly it did also show up in the AAS settings and works there now.
I am afraid that, because of this “restricted access” thing, I was using mobile data also in the SFOS layer all the time. Whatever the reason was for that, I have no idea where it came from or when it got screwed up… but I am happy that this (very big) pain point is resolved now. Even almost on its own
.
I think it looks like that, so the linked post is not helpful unfortunately.
On my C2 this happens offten, after there was an call attempt (someone tries to call me) and ofono crashes due to that or when ofono is restarted manually because of a failed attempt to end a call.
What’s your version?
Of SailfishOS? Tampella 5.0.0.68.
Before the Ofono crash(?) it shows the sim with normal provider information.
Never experienced that.
About once a month I experience that ended call is not reflected in the UI. Despite app restart. Ofono restart solves that. I might install Nofono to speed up the process.
I don’t understand, why I’m so much affected by this. Maybe it is a provider issue (Telekom.de) or OOM due to a specific app or constellation.
But reading threw the thread, I might not be the only one with that issue.
Hi, I just wanted to say thank you, you’re all really great! I had this problem with mobile data in the Android apps on my new Jolla C2, which I’ve only been using for a few days, and thanks to your great instructions, I was able to fix it for myself. I just hope that this problem can be fundamentally resolved in one of the next updates, as it can be very frustrating, especially for new users like me. But what I’ve found here is really great, so I’ve included this workaround, which helped me, in the article on my homepage (Das Jolla C2 ist eine datenschutzfreundliche Alternative – DIE PERSÖNLICHE MEINUNG), where I generally report on my experiences with the Jolla C2. By the way, this page is also a small thank you to Jolla and all of you in the community. I know that Sailfish isn’t perfect yet, but what does it need in this world? It doesn’t have to be perfect, but what I’m trying to say is, I already love it and also I think it’s fantastic that there are people (at Jolla and here too, of course) who are countering this data collection by Google, Apple, and Amazon, … with something as great as the Jolla C2 or Sailfish, by also meeting the desire of many people for real data protection and privacy with respect in the form of really good software. Sorry I can’t say it any other way but I love you all even though I don’t know you.Anyway, thank you for being there and I look forward to interesting discussions with you.
