for sfos it is plenty
Why is optimizing the OS like in the iPhone not a good option?
The other half 2.
Either a robust basic phone fitting into a pocket ( << 500 €), or a very top model packed with many unique and innovative features.
It’s good option, but I don’t think Jolla has resources for that. So I don’t expect the OS or the browser to be optimized at the level of Apple’s, and even if they are, then there is still the Android support with Android apps which take some resources.
I think browser optimization is something the “community” could do if Jolla does not have the resources, similar to the ESR 91 update. But you are right that we have much less influence on the resource usage of AppSupport. I would still prefer 8GB over 12GB, perhaps because I do not use that many Android apps.
SFOS always should stay a Linux and not go proprietary for some ‘optimizations’. Better more Linux compatibility and more memory.
Full compatibility with standard USB docks including HDMI, USB keyboard + mouse, USB soundcard + screen mirroring to external monitor would be fine!
One reason for memory: Browsers. I hate web developers.
Well I don’t hate you, but unless its xperias, browsers work fine even on 2GB, 4GB is plenty, again, on sfos
I understand disagreeing with me but straight up hating me? not cool man
I suppose “No front/selfie camera” is not an available option? Would be nice.
Sony is not sold in Portugal, so, rules them out for a daily driver.
If VoLTE doens’t work for sure, I’m not interested.
No matter other ideal numbers…
NIIIIICCCCE! I hope this will result in a decent phone with nice swipe experience. Then I’m back to Sailfish again
And thank you Jolla för asking our opinions
PS, that Jolla’s ‘Scandinavian style’ (as it was called in Jolla 1 and which I liked a lot) would be nice to get again in some renewed form
…or was it ‘Finnish style’…? Cant remember for sure
It wasn’t mention in the post - refresh rate of display, it should be higher than 60 Hz, ideally 120 Hz.
SFOS currently cannot handle 120Hz, another bug jolla hasn’t fixed
Mainline kernel pls. Or at least, build with desktop-use in mind. I expect things to work on my mobile, like on desktop. Currently my XA2 lacks basics like USB MIDI, UVC/webcams, RS232, etc. Annoying.
Yes! Came here to say OLED and DT2W!
Yeah, I find OLED more important than number of pixels. Also, with OLED low power an RGB notification led is not needed.
W.r.t. display: no malformed display pls. Straight corners, no stupid camera holes. I like the Sonys in that regard (apart for the silly tall screens).
If possible, if the next phone could not be based on an unknown turkish trade phone for which no information can be found on forums.
A linux phone doesn’t need high end specs. To be affordable would be nice to. I like my oneplus 6 very much as a “sailfish only” phone.
Performance is very good.
Waydroid works but it’s not really for daily use. «-- waydroid I mean.
I still use Xperia 10 III AAS as daily, because of Android support for Firefox and childichat.
Both phone are not high end but good enough to be a daily.
So I think the tec specs aren’t to important.
I find it remarkable how people complain(ed) loudly about the low-spec hardware of the C2, and now here are arguing for lower specs than proposed!
What’s important to note is that every time I said for sfos. But some people want to run android instead, and as we all know android is heavier than any desktop linux or even windows
Also c2 has been riddled with bugs and when arrived it didn’t even have first boot setup so thats a huge nono
If you want proof about sfos and specs I recommend checking this post and seeing number of people who voted g2. Then feel free to check g2’s specs
