Motorola Edge 30 Neo - port from VerdandiTeam

As per announcement I’ve been porting miami (edge 30 neo but i’ll call it miami for short its funnier) for some time now and today I managed (with help) to get it to daily drive’able state, so I’m releasing it!

Main source of info: https://verdanditeam.com/device/miami

We got:

  • 120Hz screen
  • Amoled
  • 5G
  • VoLTE
  • Notification LED in very very very very very stupid place that won’t ever not annoy me!
  • Compact size!
  • Stereo!
  • Wireless charging!

And now for what’s not working:

  • Fingerprint - it’s under display and I can’t be arsed making it work
  • You cannot reject a call and also screen turns off during call and you cannot turn it back on (can if you spam the power button but it’s glitchy)
  • USB OTG - we already know how to fix it it’s just matter of fixing it so it will be fixed on later date
  • Wide angle camera - it should work but is not listed

And that’s it! All of those are just commodity issues i’d call it in terms of g2 to be fully working. And battery life/suspend is insane, 6h on wifi and it lost 1-2% battery. NUTS

As usual with my port you get commodity features like my apps, all 3 stores, and updater, so you don’t have to manually update.

And I believe if you see this you won’t be able to reject call or this phone:

As of today I’ve switched from op6t to miami and I am NOT looking back at the glass-back frying pan thatgotblacklistedbymycarrierfornoapparentreasonandwithnoexplanationbecausethecarrierispieceofshi.

P.S.: Oneplus 6(t) users do not worry, verdanditeam promises long support and that shall be delivered, even though i’m not gonna be using op6(t) i never used it to start with, I’m still going to be supporting them for foreseeable future. I still wanna do mainline port

Battery life without wifi

Also I discovered that there’s a bug that phone won’t turn the screen on during alarm or notification so one more thing to iron out

Good work so far!

Please click on Battery-Charge-Graph and show us the Battery overview page.

It nearly has almost 100% CPU sleep, while my C2 has around 80%. A reason could be that LPM-Screen is activated (lift to show clock and double tap to unlock), so I ended up at 0.25%/h, which is quite okay for this feature. At Flight-Mode of course!

Sure thing, it sleeps like a baby… well babies like to wake up in the middle of the night but this one doesn’t.

On wifi it’s like 90% sleep

It’s best sleeping device I’ve ever ported, pipa (xiaomi pad 6) has 91% without wifi

I would like to say that this is very, very good! I didn’t know a port that could beat this.

Yeah it’s insanely good, with wifi it has power draw like my other devices without wifi, it’s seriously nuts

Also also if this smaller compact size is not your thing @Morc declared that he’ll port G85, they’re on the same SoC so should be incredibly simple to port and yes i’m gaslighting him into doing it right now xd

And it’s really “small” when compared to the Sony Xperia 10 III, but with a better screen-to-body ratio:

It’s one of the most compact, recent phones, from sane vendor (vendor I approve of, and sony is not invited :D)

It’s narrower but taller than my beloved perfect x2 so imho compared to frying pan that is op6 it is compact, you can grab it from left and right side that’s plenty enough

I actually have it for my other experiments but it didn’t survive completely

Since I’ve fixed display blanking during calls and added ringback tone to volte calls (as in the beeping you hear while calling someone)

Remaining issues:

  • Cannot reject a call
  • fingerprint
  • usb otg

It is on road to be truly fully working

One clarification because I was mistaken, pipa has 91% WITH wifi, and 96% without so basically same story as miami

these new devices for some strange reason just suspend differently

Hi,

can anybody say something about the performance of the device? I have a C2 and i would be interested in a performance comparison….

The C2 works ok for me, but WIFI connection problems are really annoying….

Best regards,
Andreas

Well nobody installed the port yet beside me, and I don’t have C2 so I don’t think that’ll be possible, but it has 120Hz which C2 doesn’t have which will make it smooth. Youtube quickly switches pages its nice

uhh.. JP2 is running a MTK SoC? (and the C2 has a Unisoc)

Neo 30 is the same soc as upcoming jp2, so most of actual work was done by jolla, inb4 our author starts cursing at jolla for not fixing his fingerprint sensor etc (at least he’s no longer offering to pirate jolla’s appsupport for you for free wink wink, so progress I guess)

since when does a Qualcomm platform equal to a MediaTek one, how would they be the same SoCs?
