And it’s definitely the right decision to open the TOH platform to the community - mechanic-wise, electric-wise, protocol-wise and interface-wise - because not every realizable concept is also economically feasible for mass production, but nevertheless meaningful for at least some users. If those users are enabled to produce a TOH for their specific use case themselves based on official specs - or help out their neighbours with one - perfect! ![]()

With that said, I’m happy to see from the photos at the beginning of this thread, that the battery is held in place behind a metal bracket which is screwed to the housing. This makes it possible to use the device also without an attached TOH, for example when the TOH became defect and had to be removed to restore the phone’s functionality.
Regarding the mechanical fixation of the TOH: I opt for screws here too. IIRC this was also the most-voted option in the original poll. However, a mechanism should be implemented for those screws not to fall off the TOH, but keep dangling there when loosened.

The name seems very well adapted!
The entire top surface of the TOH should be kept screw-free. Otherwise, things such as e-ink displays cannot be implemented. However, for heavier TOHs, additionally using the screw holes of the battery bracket might improve mechanical stability (by replacing the original screws with longer variants).
Regarding the general fixation mechanism: Anything that requires a sliding motion of the TOH against the phone is impossible due to the protruding camera lenses. So the TOH has to be put onto the device already in its final alignment and then mechanically fixed somehow.
My proposal: 3 screws on each of the TOH’s side surfaces. Only 2 screws on each side might not yield enough mechanical stability, but this needs to be confirmed through proper tests.
So, we are currently at 1122 sales of a batch of 1000 for the “Sep 2026” batch. It would be great for Jolla to clarify the batch size, or switch to a subsequent batch in my opinion. This ambivalence might keep some people from placing an order.
I imagine that you must take it as a threshold from which the batch will actually be produced and delivered.
Afterwards, until the deadline, it will be delivered anyway because the threshold has already been exceeded.

@Jolla Is SFOS on JP2 going to use Halium layer (or android/AOSP dependencies) or it’s going to run directly with drivers? I don’t know how it is on C2, so I’m asking about JP2 here.

Let’s just hope, that most of the people who ordered a device will also pay its full price once they’re asked to do so, and not cancel their order.
There has been also another price increase or downgrade, presumably due to memory prices. The pre-order configuration (12GB RAM / 256 GB memory) is now an extra 100 EUR additionally to the base price of 649 EUR. The base price now includes 8GB RAM and 128 GB memory.
