I haven’t seen a remotely positive post from you in ages. What are you even still doing here if all things Jolla are shit?
Ergonomics is also a taste, kind of.
If SFOS would have no swipe from the top but instead right and left slide from the lower third and different action from second third from the bottom, problem would be solved and the phone even it’s 8 imch would be controllable one handed…
But it is like it is for the moment.
And don’t get me wrong, I appreciate your opinion
Plus I also don’t like screens in cars. I own one older than you maybe…
At least i don’t pretend that everything is fine.
And yes as much as i dont like it (the device) the j2 is a step forward and will somehow fix the lack of HW issue. You will be able to have a phone if you want one.
As far as the SW goes there are many stuff missing and need to be fixed/improved. Hopefully things will start rolling. (with the compositor preferably)
Stop being rude! A deviation from your opinion is nothing bad. 7500 minds bought the new Jolla Phone so there are 7500 opinions but everyone left money for what we like. Even different people prefer different things.
No one of is Donald T.
How can there be 7500 options on the phone?
7500 must have ONE opinion and it’s that the phone is good enough for them to buy it.
Then why is there not even 1000 votes in the Jollas poll about the deplay size? And why is there 450 for 6’ and 400 for 5’?
Does that mean we all want the same???
I agree. There is work in progress.
But we should all be happy with what we get and make the best out of every cent we invest
I guess it means that all the regulars selected whatever they wanted and when the campaign starter the choice to go for 6+ inches was right because it brought 7000 more people?
Not sure how these 2 are related. Maybe you meant to say 400 people instead of 7500?
I am willing to bet that there were going to be about the same amount of people buying a j2 phone regardless of dimensions given the lack of HW.
Wait, weren’t you arguing that the uptake would have been much greater for tinyphones just a short while ago?
If it was toooo far out of the ordinary (5 or 7) i probably would not have.
I was arguing that if it was a (small) device that could also run android it might increased sales. In other words sell a device that anyone could install android on it.
BTW if you ever get the chance test a XZ2c with SFOS on it.
Maybe. I would probably buy it as well for my collection but I don’t think I would be able to use it daily.
Every phone with sfos I had that didn’t have enormous battery for its size it was always a disappointment in day to day use, close to half the battery life I would get with Android from each device.
Still fine if someone just wants grandpa phone use, but definitely unbearable for smartphone use.
this is becoming boring. it is what it is and it’s not going to change. live with the disappointment, or move on.
Indeed. I’ve been away from Jolla’s forums for quite a while and it’s boring to come back and to read exactly the same song than 8 years ago when Jolla released Salifish X: instead of being happy and celebrate a bit, only sending posts asking for more, usually to work on a smaller device…
As much as I would love to see Jolla have the resources to do it, if no other established smartphone manufacturer do it anymore there is probably a reason. You can continue to shit on the billions of human beings that prefer bigger screens, but why doing it here? At least no need to do it in every post. Those stupid customers that drive the market won’t read you here. Also it’s worthless, we all know that Jolla won’t work on a new device in the next 2 years.
Even though @L_A_G final sentence was a bit harsh, the first part of his post was just reminding the unfortunate truth: Jolla can only deal with what is available.
I also hate a lot of things with my daily use of Sailfish: having to reboot regularly to fix Audio, using an outdated browser, flaky bluetooth or even losing Android support after the last update and have to come here to fix it, etc… but hey, they are the only really usable alternative, they are surely aware of all the gaps and issues and are doing their best to move forward, so once the bugs have been reported, let’s just support them on exciting topics like this one!! Thank you Jolla for an exciting year to come! ![]()
5 posts were merged into an existing topic: Potential Bluetooth Support in the Android App Support (AAS)
I mean… I don’t see any notch on the Xperia phones…
Seriously… that notch is awful… and unfortunately, the square corner will hurt the hand… I was so hyped but the more I look at it, the more I feel like I should give up on this one…
I made it to Jolla office, and met the appearance models in person!
Wrote a super long post (bring popcorn) - My first impression of the Jolla Phone appearance models
Hi cybette. Long time since i saw that name. You don’t know me and i don’t know you -but i still remember you when you were community chief. Just wanted to say that i hope you are fine. ![]()
Hi @kaktux, thanks for your comment! While we don’t know each other personally, I think the collective connection between Sailfish OS community members is very special. I still get people coming up to me at various events asking about the project and the community. Hopefully that meant I made a mostly positive impact while I was at Jolla, but more importantly it’s a testament of how Jolla has continued to engage and work with the community in so many ways.
Honestly I wasn’t expecting anything from my simple comment earlier in this thread (plus I haven’t been active on the forum), and was surprised to hear from Sami. Sure, my advantage is that I know Sami and some of the sailors, but maybe because they know me, they also know that I will tell them exactly what I think, both the good and the bad.
During the discussion they’ve also brought up things they’ve read on the forums, from random comments in long hundreds-of-replies-deep threads. They are reading and following what the community says. We can say many things about Jolla, but we can’t complain that they aren’t listening. They do take in and consider all the feedback from the community, and do their best to action on them with the limited resources they have (manpower, budget, time frame, component availability etc.)
Maybe I’m going a bit off topic, but while we all have very different opinions on the specifics of the device (be it appearance, screen size, 3.5mm jack, and so much more), the fact that Jolla sought input from the community through voting, and follow the discussions before, during and after that, truly makes this a device designed by community. I’m proud to be part of all these with you and the rest of the community!
My two points:
- I don’t like the square corners. The phone looks old, like it’s five years old.
- I’d prefer a slightly larger size, something with a good presence and a decent screen, not so tiny.
