It is now 17 days since I received the shipping email, but there is no sign of anything being shipped. No tracking information. I have sent emails and PM asking for tracking information, but get no answers.

I had a similar situation and PM’d Jolla; Took ~ a week for them to reply. It then took another 4-5 days for them to locate the phone and process shipping and create the waybill. Thereafter, another ~4-5 days for the shipment to be received by the shippers. I expect my Batch 2 to arrive this week. It certainly appears Jolla has been overwhelmed with such a huge influx of orders. TBH, from a support perspective and the long term future of Jolla (and the company’s philosophy) I am happy to be patient.

Edit: @jsten My phone arrived this afternoon. Shipping took 9 days. 2 days less than the median in the community tracker as per Jolla Phone Community Shipping Tracker - #695 by moripeluka Hope you get yours soon now.

Oh hey, you seemed curious so i just wanted to say i wrote that Jolla Phone review. I put it on reddit, here, cause i feel like here most people already have the phone or have it pre-ordered and a review is probably more useful to those who didn’t buy into it yet and are considering it.

Great, comprehensive review. I admit I didn’t read evey sentence but still impressed. Very honest and mostly valid. But there are bits where it seems that you don’t know the SFOS well yet. Totally understandable. Some things you mention that are not possible, are possible. A few examples:
Keyboard does have emojis if you choose it.
Bad photos from native app doesn’t mean bad camera HW. When API 2 will be it’s default the results will be different. As can already be tried with RAWfish.
Browser experience is not always from ā€˜outdated Gecko engine’. V153 is coming soon anyway.

So it seems some nice surprises still waits for you in SFOS.

Thanks for that review. I think it is giving a good picture to those interested in the phone. Setting the right expectations is important for getting happy Sailfish OS and Jolla Phone users.

I agree with others that the camera still has much more potential than in the current stock app. Even though I want to say that one can shoot very nice images even with the stock app. It takes effort though and good light conditions.

RAWfish and fiat imago are very promising. For the latter I have to say I even outright prefer it over the iOS stock image editor, simply because of its ease of use while being capable of handling RAW format. The only thing it still lacks that I would really love to see is postprocessing noise reduction options.

RAWfish shoots much better images already in JPG mode and if you shot RAW/DNG and edit either via fiat imago on the phone or darktable on desktop, you can get even considerably more out of it. However RAWfish is still experimental and there are some bugs but the biggest drawback is that the shutter time is very long, much worse than the stock app. So I really would not recommend it for moving motives at the moment. Manual focusing also still has some issues. It is early days but I think there is great potential.

Hi everyone! Some news! My calculation turned out to be right—it arrived today, October 5th; I was off by just one day! Hehe. After testing and using it, I can confirm it’s a completely new phone. I noticed something interesting: my first Jolla didn’t have a seal on the box, but this one did. The screen and dust issues have been resolved—at least so far, I haven’t noticed anything amiss. After a month and three days, I’ll finally be able to enjoy it.

@Jespsounds

did it come with the I3C board?

How or where can I see that?

Edit: I just saw it. It says TOH I2C interface.

Where did you saw that?

@Jespsounds

This link shows how to open it…

here is a pic of the difference between the I2C & I3C..

System / Produktinformation / Device identifiers
or similar German interface.

Thanks. But I’m unsure if that method already identify the subboard precisely.

I’m not entirely sure either. I’ve no idea whether that’s read from the device or hard-coded. As a Batch 1 device, it should be correct in my case. Perhaps the hardware revision of my device, .17, provides some further clarification.
But ultimately, Jolla could confirm this.

They wrote that they are working on a reliable software method. But not there yet.

I think for now the visual check is the only reliable one.

You can see it in the product information, though we don’t know if what’s listed is actually the board inside. For now, I’m not going to disassemble my Jolla to find out; I’d rather wait for a reliable software-based method.

I hope you got your update.

But fyi my order #213*** in batch 3 was just announced the to courier today.

Current goal for them to ship batch 3 is 20th October I believe.

Hope you get it soon.

Oh thank you, it’s true i have the phone just for a few weeks so i don’t know everything yet. But yeah i know the camera’s HW is capable, i also know Jolla is aware of this and is working on it, i mentioned it there hehe. The RawFish is interesting too, people mentioned it in comments on Reddit as well and i am playing with it now, looks pretty promising indeed. The browser yeah i am not sure exactly why it’s not that great. HW acceleration too maybe ? Also not like there is any webview baked in the system on SailfishOS right. And the keyboard is mystery to me tho. I played around with it, looked in the setting and couldn’t find any option for emojis. Is installing a patch for it needed ?
