Jolla Phone protective covers

Avhakola

Thanks! Much appreciated.

Yes, I took off the plastic protection for new devices (of course).
Yes I did apply the Jolla glass protector.

Since we don’t have a dedicated case yet, I despise fanny packs and the phone is occasionally a bit hard to pocket, I ordered a leather case on ebay.de which can be put on the belt.
It’s a perfect match for a JP2 without the protector (with protector it fits - but barely and is hard to remove).

they have wrong wording… must be for the Note 13 Pro+ 5G not Note 13 4G….

Note 13 Pro+ 5G Dimensions 161.4 x 74.2 x 8.9 mm

Jolla Dimensions: 157 x 74 x 9.7 mm

And again, it seem fake image…

Looks there is a difference between the Note 13 Pro 5G and the Note 13 Pro+ 5G, so the wallet case pic is correct, not the description…

Well, searching those cases makes me think I will have to actually buy one to be sure. Resellers are just not trustworthy. At least not on their web sites.

This looks awesome!
Would you mind sharing a link?
Thanks!

@bordapapa sure, no problem… :slightly_smiling_face:

I never throw my old phone covers away, so I have a pretty considerable pile of them  I mainly use thin TPU covers myself, but my wife likes these leather wallet cases, and I’ve bought her quite a bunch of them over the years.

So today I figured I’d try if one of them would fit the new Jolla phone, and I found one that is really close! My wife’s work phone is a OnePlus Nord CE3 Lite, and check out how well the cover of that fits:

The USB-C port is exposed and even the fingerprint sensor is almost completely visible, it’s just unusable because it’s too far under the edge of the case. But I think it would be usable with minor modification. I don’t want to cut this one though, because it’s for my wife’s phone and she hasn’t even used this case yet (I always order a few options and this is one that didn’t get used yet).

So anyway, just wanted to report that the OnePlus Nord CE3 Lite is also very usable as base for modification.

My attempt with a CaseMe brand case for Samsung S26+ wasn’t very successful. Samsung or very least the case for it seem to be much rounder in the corners than Jolla, to the extent that Jolla doesn’t really fit in there. I had to cut a slash to the apex in each of the corners of the plastique holder, and haven’t at least yet managed to make it acceptable.

If/when tub is made of TPU those corners can be stretched by applying a little bit of heat. Because I used Jolla back protector with S26+ case I had left-over S26+ tub, so… I used heat gun and rectangular piece of wood to try how it goes. Slightly more stretching would have been needed, roundness did not yet disappear from the back corners.

I mailed the manufacturer Supcase to ask if they would consider the production of a rugged cover for the Jolla phone. Their answer:

Hi Didier,
Thank you for your detailed reply and for sharing background information about the Jolla phone.

We appreciate your recommendation of this niche device with great potential, and we understand your perspective. We have noted the sales figures you mentioned and will forward your full feedback—along with the forum link—to our product team.

At this moment, we do not yet have a specific timeline for developing a protective case for this model.

We hope you enjoy using your Jolla phone once you receive it in September.
Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.

Kind Regards,

Long story short, they kind of turned it down =) If we had the mold/template for printing Jolla cases, it’d actually be really easy to make cases, back covers, basically everything — but it’d take a pretty decent amount of money.

I have a spigen case for my 10iii, I would be happy with a similar case for JP2, but we might not be that many ;-(

The cases for Pixel 6 and Samsung S26+ were too tight so I had to look at phonesbysize.com again.
Indeed Oneplus has a few options that could fit. Because TOH makes Jolla2 a bit thicker, the width of the case is also important.
Oneplus Nord CE 3 Lite (165.5 x 76 x 8.3) is from 2023.
If not available, a newer one like Oneplus Nord 6 (162.5 x 77.5 x 8.5) also is possible.
