Jolla Phone Pre-order campaign has started

Me too, was a lot of support for the comment about Video-out over USB C in the community poll.

Well done @rainemak and sailors!

The specs are really nice (MediaTek Dimensity 8000 would be a dream ) und if it will run SFOS as smoothly as the Xperia 10 ii (for me the benchmark for SFOS HW adaptation so far) it couldn’t be better!

Pre-order placed (and even thinking of another one)

Thank you, sailors!

Looks very great !!!

Question : What size will the battery be? Will it be standard enough to be easily purchased and replaced?

Thanks a lot !

Entering other markets, such as the U.S. and Canada are to be decided due course based on potential interest from the areas.

I’m in the US and I am interested.

Battery’s physical dimensions are yet to be confirmed. We’ll make spare battery available on due course the project and it will be user replaceable.

Yeah, I hope there will be a case available with the device (as there was with the C2), or even for the alternative back covers to be a little thicker, otherwise i fear for the lenses in my clumsy hands.

It really should:

If you scroll all the way down on the product page, there’s a quick mention about accessories like spare batteries and cases, so yes, there will be!

Great news about new Jolla Phone! Phone looks beautiful and specs will be more than enough for me. Smaller the better is my opinion about the size (current phone is s10e). Placed my pre-order and shared the link to pre-order page in x. Let’s make this happen!

Is there any change the phone will get magnetic charging? After a long voyage (N900, N9, Jolla 1, Jolla C, Xperia X, Xperia X, X10, X10 III) I have left the SFOS camp quite recently, I just needed a phone that can make calls as well as send messages…
Lidar on an iPhone pro was the “gateway drug” for me, as it is useful for my job, I am not even asking for that. But having wireless charging is just too good, I don’t think I want to leave that. I even excuse the lack of 3.5 jack for it.

(Of course there are longstanding shortcomings of SFOS and I doubt new hardware will change anything about those, but let’s leave that for somewhere else.)

The Backplate is removable, so maybe someone is able to build a Backplate which can support that, build with 3D printer in combination with this:

Its a QI-Charging-Coil with Voltage-Regulator.

A second USB-c port would have been nice with that Qi add-on…

that wouldnt solve the my use case. I need the headphone jack for my car mostly. Thats the time I have to charge my phone in parallel, why charging without using the usb-c would help a little bit to dry the tears, that are falling because of the missing jack

Use Bluetooth. Its standard in every Car-Audio. Its working very good with my Jolla C2.

Just noticed the Jolla Phone thread trending well in the Hacker News!

Upvoting will help us together to stay up in the newsboard and get more traction to the project. Let’s go and upvote it to the top  :rocket:

Apologies for asking repeatedly (it got buried); could you see my question at Jolla Phone Pre-order campaign has started - #40 by catonyourcomputer? Thanks

Hello all !

I just got X notification about this. I was out of loop all this time (different priorities) but made preorder right away.

I don’t even care that much about specs (as long as they are decent). I just want different OS, “free" OS.

Cheers and best of luck !

No, it isnt. (in my case: 2009 Mercedes, BT only does the calls, but is not capable of playing music).
