The awaited next gen Jolla Phone project has started!

Time to recap a bit. To start with, what an overwhelming response we did receive to the original questionnaire opened in early August and the follow up post – input and discussion still going on even daily-basis in both. Truly awesome and shows the great interest for the project. :pray:

As there is such a great interest to realise the next Jolla Phone combined with willingness in the community to commit for pre-orders, it is time to move forward and start to make the project a reality. In parallel during the autumn we’ve been able to secure key aspects of project to meet the most wishes by the community – the size of the display and device being one of the key design criterias. We’re happy to note now that we have confirmed the display unit and it will be even below 6.4” with a hand fit size combined with aspect ratio of 20:9.

As we noted in the original announcement, to make the next gen Jolla Phone commercially viable we should get in minimum 2,000 pre-orders to start the project. This target remains, and let’s work together to make it!

Now it is time to act and make this a reality – thus this is a call-to-action to all you community members out there, only with you we can make this. And we want more - old members to come back and new members to join. Those that were users of the original Jolla Phone but perhaps went away for some time, those that have only recently discovered this option and those that have not even heard of Sailfish OS!

Thus, please share the word to make the project a reality - to your loved ones, friends, peers and colleagues, and to other communities.

Original jolla phone had headphone jack, sdcard, removable battery.

Why is it impossible right now to have headphone jack? Why have we regressed so much?

Currently original jolla phone looks far superior.

These are wonderful news! I really do like the orange color. The color reminds me of orange life jackets on the high seas. :fish: :sailboat:

The specs looking also all good. I am excited, and ordered one.

And ordered. Nice specs - and not thatlow specs like the community phones (C1 and C2) before.

GPS isn’t mentioned in the specs, but I guess this will be also in as its standard for smartphones, right?

So just the missing headphone jack and the notch don’t really make me happy at 100%, but it’s up to 90% then…

Some more Infos on display resolution would be nice.

EDIT: don’t know if I missed it before or if it was added now, resolution is Full-HD.

I have preordered it not beeing logged in into my Jolla Account, hopefully they can assign it to it! (E-Mailed to them with Account-ID)

well, order placed, I suppose. insanely protruding cameras and lack of headphone jack aside… god this thing looks beautiful, haha; absolutely love the colorful back cover, and the sharp edges~ (and just in time for my XA2 starting to finally give up its ghost, too!)

fingers crossed it gets funded, can’t wait to hold it in my own hands :wink:
