Jolla Phone Pre-order campaign has started

They said the final full payment will be collected February-March. And since the campaign runs until the end of February, my estimation is that it’ll be the first weeks of March.

That’s “1H 2026” or the first half of 2026, not the first quarter (“Q1”), meaning they’re promising to deliver by the end of July.

We still haven’t seen a running prototype, just the ”look and feel model” (meant to inform you how it’ll feel in the hand) with the outsides, but with nothing on the inside. Hence it’d be damn odd for them to start delivering within march. I suspect that like the Jolla C2 the initial release will also be a little beta-esque for at least the first few months.

(Which I personally don’t mind. If I wanted something to be polished from the get-go I’d wait those months or buy an iPhone).

I understood, that @dachshound and others were talking about when Jolla would request the final payments (which they had previously announced as somewhere around February-March), and not the actual final delivery date (in the summer).

I also read it like this, though when seeing a delivery start by the end of June this year, I’d expect to receive the payment e-mail more likely by the end of April or in May, actually.

You know what happens any time you ask for a date?

Just asking.

Can I pre-order on a business entity and already receive an invoice for the €99 down payment? Given quarterly bookkeeping requirements, I have no option of an invoice months after a payment.

Yes you can, enter your VAT number in the cart before checkout and if your business is registered in another EU state you’ll pay 78.88 EUR (reverse charge). They will issue an invoice immediately.

Hi, does the phone get automatic updates? I’ve read, that for the C2 you have to pay extra after 1 year, but perhaps this is obsolet in the meantime.

No, you do not need to pay extra after 1 year. We updated on the matter during last summer.

Thanks, that are good news.

Any updates on when we will hear more about the final specs? I’d love to know what CPU it will have.

I have no inside information. …but my guess is Mediatek Dimensity 7100.

Unlikely that it is a 7100… that one already is published and Jolla could already have told us about it. I assume 72xx, 73xx or 74xx series. But that is all speculation of cause.

7100 was unpublished at the time of the announcement.

Sure, but today it isn’t and if they tell us about that later than necessary, they know that would not give any points.

I assume, that MediaTek is updating their line up one after another and since the 7100 is already there for a month now and Jolla didnt tell us “now we can tell you: it is this one” means for me, that it is a different chip. Likely 7200 or 7300-series or at least a 7150 or something like that.

But I assume, that a 7150 is unlikely if they just released a 7100 (xx50 is an inbetween generations one in general) and like that I assume 72xx, 73xx or 74xx.

PS: Again: I do not know… this is a guess.

Maybe this idea comes late:

They can integrate a supercapacitor into the J2, allowing you to change the battery within 10 seconds without the system turning off.

Due to (maybe better?) linux support Jolla maybe could look into the IoT and not the smartphone branch of the SoC lineup?

I do not know, but they already said it is a 7xxx series and like that I am pretty sure they are already working on supporting it. Going to change it now to a different branch might give a big delay and I suppose IOT doesn’t really deliver the same performance.
