The link to the official specification posted above yours by @Optimistjolle says no word of it, while for the other recent models (7050, 7200) the pages say “Efficient in-chip AI processing” or “AI-camera enhancements” and quote an NPU model in the specification. So my guess is no NPU in the 7100.
It seems that Long Range Bluetooth relies on something called Coded PHY (introduced with Bluetooth 5), which seems to extend the maximum reach to more than a kilometre and in some special circumstances even beyond five kilometres.
The trade-off is that Long Range Bluetooth has lower transfer speeds, 125 to 500 kbps.
It transfers data between phones even without cellular service.
I read the official specs for the Dimensity 7100 to catch every detail of it, but it was so hard to believe that there wasn’t a NPU in the SoC that I had to ask just to get a second opinion.
If the 7100 really lacks a NPU then that would be a good thing, imho.
In addition to what you said, Google/Apple are collecting telemetry data from their devices in average about 4.5 minutes, source: https://eudl.eu/pdf/10.1007/978-3-030-90022-9_12
Totally agree. There is no need for an NPU in a sailfish phone. It wont be doing anything anyway.
7400 is Wi-Fi 6E and the 7100 wasn’t published when they mentioned “an unpublished SoC”.
I personally hoped for 7360 but 7100 will be fine.
I might have unpopular opinion, but NPU in Jolla phone with possibility to use Venho.ai locally on the phone (with subscription) would be interesting combo. Easier and cheap to try out. Of course this probably can be achieved with Mind2 with connecting to it somehow outside your home, but it is a little bit pricey.
I agree this could be useful. Jolla/Venho have already hinted at an architecture with connected AI nodes.
Also, an NPU do text-to-speech, speech recognition or photo post-processing locally would be nice.
Is it just me, or do I get the impression that sales are taking off again today? ![]()
It’s a miracle people still buy with all the randomness, additions, notes and inconsistencies the page has now.
Assuming someone never heard about Jolla he might think that either this is a scam, something is wrong with the campaign, or simply that they won’t or can’t even adjust the campaign page and they ask for my money?
Either everything is so wrong that somehow makes it right, or many people just skip because of the above.
I guess we’ll never know ![]()
Let’s stay positive, let’s focus on the best! (and it might be yet to come!
)
What are you talking about? They clarified some things, but what are these “randomness and incosistenstencies” you are ralking about?
They can change it if you tell them what (and it is reasonable) but being unprecise like that does not help in any way.
I don’t know, maybe the fact that there are multiple stuff about batches at the top without any visible representation in the order bar, maybe still “2000” that is there in the bar, maybe the date that says 28th of February under that and 1 cm lower above the price still says 31st of January, maybe the fact that it says maximum of 10k that I doubt as well.
What doesn’t help is them leaving it like this, not me pointing out the obvious. Other than that, as I said if they lose sales because of that is their problem not mine.
Why would there be a representation in the bar…that was used to indicate the MINIMUM required sales for J2 to be produced?
The bar is full. The numbers are above. Seems pretty clear to me ![]()
That was the case before TOH.
Target was 2000, now the target is 10000.
I am not a UI designer anymore (at least not mainly) but you can signify much easier I believe that minimum threshold was reached and the new goal still has some way to go.
Example
But anyway, whatever works right?
@Jolla Only needs to update the 31 January date. All the other info is pretty clear and we have a flow diagram already.
I preordert one of the last ones of the first batch. When an how can i buy the finle phone?
Clearly visible on the web page:
Batch #1 delivery estimated by end of 1H/2026
Then I can estimate to receive in the next two months an invoice that asked to pay the rest of the price and to transmit the Shipping address, right?
I vaguely remember that say March.
