Jolla Phone Pre-order campaign has started

Nice, haven’t been this excited about a new phone in years and years and years.

Just hoping for video out over USB…

Although I don’t need a new phone, I’m glad to be part of this success.

i guess it’s still batch 1 - as big as possible a batch is good for Jolla

Awesome! Now let’s make some stretch goals! Congratulations to Jolla team!

yeah - already suggested some above:

5000: a second back in a different colour

10.000: bumper and screen protector

50.000: a second battery

100.000: a charger for the second battery

:-):upside_down_face:

Hoops, the message i replied to disappeared - it’s about stretch goals, seriously

You didn’t say what it really changes. It’s just some eye candy, which some people are even not able to see a real difference. For me this sounds a bit like:
I don't want to have this Porsche, if it has no ambient lighting.

Believe me, there are more important things on Sailfish to work on.

Regarding a long lifetime: if we can live with outdated specs in three years (even if they are up to date now) it may have a long lifetime

New hardware, browser engines, Apps, features like a secure wallet and pay by NFC are evolving quickly

The lifetime is neither in our nor in Jolla’s hands

Already have done. Can only but hope.

The campaign still keeps its momentum beyond 2000 - very nice:

Awesome! This a record in pre-ordering. I’m not sure if it even tops the pre-ordering of the Jolla C1. I’m happy for the community, everyone taking part in discussion what we would like to look forward and for the Jolliboys. Perhaps now the estimated delivery by end of 1H/2026 can speed up.

Battery is for me the biggest enemy for a long lifetime.

But since the J2 is supposed to allow battery replacement…

Ageing protection to limit charge and avoiding extended high temperatures (above 50° C) is recommended for a long battery life. Also, it’s possible to replace the battery of the C2 (see some videos about the Reeder S19 Max Pro S) but it requires special tools and a hairdryer. I would suggest to also change the speaker for a better suitable one at the same time. The sound quality is very lousy in C2. I hope sound will be better for our pre-ordered new (J2) Jolla. By the way, what is the official name of the new Jolla phone? I haven’t read it anywhere.

What micron just did is overblown. Their business is making memory chips. They made a successful side business into the consumer market with diy product, like RAM sticks and SSDs, but it was a minor side thing for them. Their core business was still supplying other parties with chips. And they still do. For supply, it doesn’t matter if there are micron chips in a micron RAM stick or if the same chips are put into a corsair RAM stick. Not sure if they use micron, but swap their brand with another one that does, and you’ll get the point.

But that on the side.

As for where I get my information from. Multiple sources. For example

Wow!:rocket: The new #JollaPhone pre-order reached its first goal of 2,000 units sold - and in what a pace in less than 48hrs! This unlocks the project now and we are so excited to get it going! BIG thank you all

We still have some quota left on the 1st pre-order batch, so hurry up if you want to hop on board the very first batch and enjoy the exclusive early bird benefits.

Crucial sells to consumer users, and it’s part of Micron, so it’s not overblown at all.

The biggest provider of RAM chips is not supplying users any more. This IS an issue. You don’t start a RAM business overnight.

Really nice to see the Jolla phone story go on. And like i see, 2000 pieces were already ordered. What i miss a bit, is the Jola legacy. The jolla phone for its time was quite sophisticated and ingenious, with the TOH concept and adaptable interfaces. I mean this could still be reached with the new Jolla phone and a connection through NFC today, but so far there is no concept of a new TOH, so unless Jolla is planning to offer additional hardware, the base hardware doesn’t seem so interesting or competitive. So lets wait what is still coming! Good luck Jollaboys!

I must say I’m very impressed by the way Jolla has handled this so far!

Listening to the community was a great way to start planning the new Jolla phone. Since then, they have moved swiftly to design the phone and set up all the campaign material.

The pre-order campaign page has a professional touch and it covers all the available details one might be interested in. The phone itself (especially the orange & black colour scheme) looks really yummy and the specs are looking better than on any other phone capable of running Sailfish. It may not be for everyone, but I’d say they did a pretty darn good job taking user preferences into account.

I hope I’m right when I say that this feels like a turning point in Jolla & Sailfish OS saga. Needless to say, I couldn’t resist pre-ordering :orange_heart: :black_heart:
