indeed, it’s all about a good compromise. From my perspective, the specs are carefully chosen with trade-offs that aren’t killers
As many said: the most important feature would be SFOS running nicely in the HW, support most if not all HW features

Years have passed. Back again before the release of “Jolla 2” and preorder have been made :). Too bad I could not access to the old account because old email service has ceased since and did not remember the password.
Fuck Qt. All is needed is a modern compositor. The rest will come after that easily.
there’s nothing wrong with QT, the problem is Jolla’s desire to keep silica as ‘secret sauce’.
The issue is that it costs a lot for a company like Jolla. We would never have that issue if they have chosen to base to OS on GTK or EFL or another toolkit.
But thats not the main problem. The compositor is so old that you can’t do anything with it. If this gets fixed then you can use anything you want with it.
Here is how XA2
GPS can be fixed
the preorder cannot be done via the Jolla account anyway. You ain’t missing anything
It’s game changer, really. I can’t go back on a 60 Hz screen, and you can disable 120 hz in option, so it’s not a big deal if you don’t want to use it.
1993…..oh boy oh boy oh boy. It´s really happening ![]()
Qt have become a lawyer company. They spend their resources hunting companies using their products and threaten to sue them.
Unfortunately no viable alternative exists for now.

I can’t help but seeing some HMD traits in this phone… Probably wishful thinking, but would be very cool if true.
And there we have it, from 0 to 2000 in less than 48 hours! Congrats to the Jolla crew on a successful pre-order campaign and thanks to all the participants and the entire SailfishOS community for their support. ![]()
This product shows a lot of promise and will hopefully have a long lifetime both in terms of being a useful daily driver device and providing the general public easier access to a high quality phone with SailfishOS preinstalled.
2000 preorders reached!

@Jolla I think this milestone deserves a blog post!
The 2000 lightened this very grey and rainy day ![]()
