It’s a fair question and I’m not sure if the manufacturer has some kind of schedule. Also I don’t see the point of rushing a product to market, instead it is better to use that time to improve the product quality on launch. We know from many previous examples that products that launch half finished, it is usually devastating.
If Jolla meets the goal earlier, they have more time to iron out the design. More importantly, they can in an earlier stage get development boards of the reference design which gives them time to work on the SW.
Display: 6.36” ~390ppi FullHD AMOLED, aspect ratio 20:9, Gorilla Glass
Maybe now is the perfect moment to discuss screen size and maybe that headphone jack again. Or maybe something completely different? We had practically no discussion on hardware specs. Let’s start that now. Not.
And did someone already mention those head phone adapters?
I think we’ll be into at least Tuesday before we hit 100% but maybe I’m just being pessimistic. The last part always takes the longest since most avid users of SFOS will have already placed their orders, and it’s just a matter of convincing new users by then.
100% agree with you! It’s like The Americans that went to the Moon 60 years ago, but lost the papers and cant do it now
Oppo Reno15 is 360 Euro, Meizu 22 is 360 Euro, OnePlus 13T is 410 Euro. 360 looks to me half the price of Normal Jolla price 599 € - 699 €.
And a friendly reminder. Less than 20 years ago Nokia’s smartphone market share was 50%! Jolla is the true successor of Nokia smartphone evolution. Jolla released its first phone on November 27 2013. At that time OnePlus didn’t even exist.
Back to the future
OnePlus has a net worth of $350 billion, giving an effortless experience to users.
Key points are flagship-level specs at competitive prices and a strong fan base.
Jolla struggling to fit 6.3” display in a 6.5” body…
My first phone even had wallmounts and didn’t even need a battery. And remember these old Nokias? Man, Jolla can’t do anything comparable. They were available with spikes in 165SR15. And other Nokias always kept your feet dry in the rain.
Capitalism with a market economy works in such a way that you buy what suits you and vice versa, you don’t buy what doesn’t suit you. That’s the magic.
OnePlus is a Chinese company (just like Oppo and Maizu btw), meaning they are heavily funded by the state. Also, they run on Android which is way easier to tap into for a company than Linux and also attracts way more users, so you can grow a lot faster.
If you as a user want to have your data gathered and sold around the globe you should probably buy a cheaper phone than the Jolla phone. Jolla obviously isn’t for you as privacy and security is what sets Jolla apart from other manufacturers.
If you do care about privacy and security you’d be happy to pay a bit extra compared to the Chinese brands you mentioned.
Most mobiles doesn’t support usb-c to analog audio, but most dongles have an internal DAC, to sent the audio as digital to the mobile, so the sound quality will depend on the quality of the dongle’s DAC.
Comparing companies that make billions and use Android with Jolla is not really a fair comparison.
Also I would highly prefer Jolla to deliver something good and realistic, instead of over promising and under delivering.
Other than that, the device costs 499, has SD and removable battery, so please at least read the specs.
