Jolla Phone : First Experiences, Pros and Cons

You might be right with the XA2+ … need to test this and compare as the XA2+ is laying in my drawer.

By the way the spare battery:

5.5 Ah that’s huge and I got my new Jolla with 80% and playing more or less 20 hours now with it and still at about 40% remaining…must say that I had some small amount of sleep and work in between.

I’m curious about this because I’ve seen another user saying that there are stereo speakers.

Thanks for telling. I just played the preinstalled videos… got no other media yet. Need to still test. Perhaps someone else could confirm…not that I have one broken speaker but the bottom one works at least.
EDIT: I take everything back regarding the „not stereo” - it has stereo and really good - just comparing to Samsung S23 FE and on the equal level - I’m very happy about it!

Just installing the most important accessory:

One thing to note. There is a protection foil…on the Jolla. I don’t remember that the C2 had it. However, this seems to be a really good quality screen protector.

It did. But despite that the screen from my C2 just unglued on the top once after taking it from the pants pocket.

Is there a chance that low brightness could be the result of let’s say some people using the stock film or even adding a screen protector on top of it?
Just throwing ideas out there.

DNSSEC is disabled by default as it indeed caused some issues. And the version of systemd we currently have does not have the resolvectl command yet, but you can do at least some of the same things with systemd-resolve command.

For me, it was very easy to properly install the screen protector. I must say that I have a routine in this but it’s by far the most easy to install protector if you follow the guide and do it with patients. There is a nice surprise once you look at the bottom-front/middle side of the phone then. I will not spoil too much, so please discover yourself. Thanks a lot Jolla!

It’s good to hear these are actually nice screen protectors and come with nice applicator. I was already exited seeing that they are actual Corning Gorilla glass.

I have been thinking why there are not Gorilla glass screen protectors available since the screens made of it are quite durable but I would just want that extra protection.

I got tired of the brittle glass screen protectors so I’ve been using my Xperias without any and haven’t actually broken the screen but sometimes it’s kind of scary.

… none of which are present on the Nagara community port. The hardware of the 1 & 5 IV is considerably better than the J2, too. I’ve been a happy 1 IV user since February, enjoying it like no other SFOS device before.

There isn’t one. Jolla lost the license for it when they changed the name. So not available in the new images. But OTOH I do hope that soon there will be some other solution.

It was supposed to be fixed (use hunspell) in 5.2 which afaik comes with the new phone.

Predictive text was pre-installed when setting up my J2. Here is it in the Notes app working, and listed as Installed in Jolla Shop.

How big is the jolla, or rather how small is that xperia? It’s so tiny!

So. Its XT9 based right? They didn’t move to a newer solution (pressage or hunspell)

Plastic hardcase on screen protector (instead of cardboard), while even no USB-C cable?
They might have ecological bipolar disorder lol

A bunch of zypper se’s shows that indeed jolla-xt9 is installed. Various jolla-keyboard-hunspell-corrector packages are available in repos, but not installed, though.
