Kind of reasonable an Android intent was not understood by the SFOS Browser - but how did it get there in the first place?
it was a link from google search (theres google at the bottom).
Some sites like to unceremoniously try redirecting to its app. Aliexpress being one of them.
Weird that calls connected to cars bluetooth doesn’t work. Does other people experience the same? And how doesn’t it work? Are you unable to pick up call when people call you while you are in the car because it fucks up the audio not coming through, or does it just take the call on the phone as a regular call?
I got my J2 in Helsinki and am using it as my everyday phone without any problems; nonetheless there are some things, which I noticed:
When I activate the loudspeaker after having dialed a phonenumber, I cannot hear the connecting sound sometimes.
I don’t like the new sounds, they are terribly unremarkable, even meaningless, especially the ringtones. In my personal opinion, the old ones, “the first one” included, are way better, recognisable at once and express the phone’s spirit far better.
The GPS is far quicker than on the C2, but several times, I noticed a constant deviation of up to 100m. And if I believed the height position, I’d be hovering around 50 - 60 meters above the ground constantly.
The camera’s abilities have been discussed a lot, already. The quality is decent, but the processing and the fine tuning need still a tad of work to be done on them.

I did not perform a real test, I did not have the possibility to dial a number or synchronize contacts in the Mazda system at all (these functions were unavailable).

I have issues also. I managed to make a call but suddenly it just went silent on my end. Several attempts to start the call again but didn’t work.

I noticed that switching the audio app while connected to my car has problems. I usually listen music via Qobuz (Android) or the native media player. If I change the app and sart a track with the native app the music from Qobuz fades out, but the one from media player stays silent.
I also picked up my J2 in Helsinki, and I didn’t want to rain on the parade, but I also love the spirit of the original sounds. Timeless and upbeat. I still use them. The new tunes give me a bit of a ‘beer commercial vibe’ if that’s a thing.

Phone dimensions have been discussed to death when Jolla asked for what sailors wanted before the design phase.
Sadly, almost all current smartphones are big or very big, so it’s hard to find an available screen smaller than the one in the Jolla Phone 2026.
Making a smaller phone would require a special command, and Jolla doesn’t have the volume to absorb the extra costs.

You can easily recognize the layers by their outer rims, which generally leave a tiny space between the real glass and the protector. The most upper layer is a thin and flabby one with a flap. The second one directly on the glass is sturdier with no flap.

Really? I still have the one with the strip on my screen, and I can’t see anything that may look as another already attached screen protector. Ad why should Jolla sell screen protectors when the phone already comes with one?
The second one is also meant to be removed. They said it in somewhere when people asked
This also could have been communicated a lot clearer. Or labeled on the phone itself. I removed the first cover but had no idea there was another one and installed the protective glass on top of it. If there really is one.

It’s just the protective film from the factory that protects against the most superficial scratches during shipping, like the plastic film you often have to peel off on shiny plastic or metal electronics, but worthless as an actual screen protector.

Judging from the fact that my second film is very much observable and hard to miss (similarly to e.g. the one visible in this photo Jolla Phone 2026 - batch 1 - Dust building up between front camera and screen glass - #130 by Rusted), I very much suspect that only some (early?) devices have this second, slightly more permanent plastic film, while others (later assembled?) don’t. No peeling strip on the second one.
I can now confirm that the flashlight stops working when battery level goes down to 15% even without the user controllable battery saving mode on and even while charging the phone. The battery saving mode that can be toggled by the user doesn’t affect the flashlight.
The behaviour with low battery is such that the flashlight toggle properly turns on and stays on but the light doesn’t turn on. I even tested turning it on and then charging, but the light doesn’t turn on when battery reaches 15%. After that flashlight toggle needs to be turned off and on again to have the light actually turn on. When the battery level goes down to 15% with the flashlight on, the light just turns off all of a sudden but the flashlight toggle stays on.
The behaviour with low battery is different to the behaviour when trying to turn on the flashlight with the stock camera app open. When the camera app is open, the flashlight button just briefly flashes showing the text “on” and then goes back to off without the light turning on.
Flashlight does indeed work on my phone if battery level is above 15%. Another thing I found during testing is that the phone just immediately turns off once it goes down to 2% battery. I faintly remember that this is how it worked also with the first Jolla phone. I need to get used to it again after using phones that last for quite a while still at 1% before turning off. Luckily the forum software saved my draft message that I had open on the phone when it turned off.

Thanks for the explanation. I love the fact that there was an open and transparent vote for the specs and I fully respect the results of that vote. I went back now and read some of those discussions to educate myself further as I sadly was late to the party this time.
Still hoping that at some point the resources are there to provide an alternative also when it comes to phone and screen size.

Yes, that one on the photo is the sturdier one.
What I still don’t understand are the thoughts behind applying a screen protector on top of an existing one, however god or bad that one may be.
Any additional layer always adds the risk of additional bubbles and dust, makes the touch experience worse and just does not make any sense.
It somehow reminds me of people painting over instead of cleaning the surface first, then paint to get a reliable coating. Just adding new layers increases the risk of paint peeling off and other unwanted consequences.
