ok, got it up an working. I started with selecting the language via touch input followed by the user data encryption. the device rebooted and came up with entering the sim. not working because of the nin working touch inout. did several reboots with and without sim but nothing changed. so, after a while while be on the pin enter screen I plugged in an usb-c port replicator and therefore a usb mouse. so an arrow came up and I was able to complete the setup with the usb mouse. In the system I played around a little bit but touch input still not working. So I did another reboot and after that everything is working like it should
Someone could try to download the packages (and depencies) to a memory card and install them from there and the see if it is possible to dump some relevant logs to the memory card for Jolla to investigate?
I setuped my C2 as follow:
- Select language ā English US
- Enter 5+ code (two times; 2nd time as confirmation)
- Time / - zone Europe / Berlin
- Wlan Key (WPA 2) (my own Wlan was directly visible)
- Complete wizard
How can I see if the next reboot will work without any problems? Is there any file that indicates that all is prepared as expected thus the next reboot will work?
No wlan issues means youāre good (I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice)
Battery was completely flat on first boot, itās now stuck on spinning circle too after completing setup correctly and WLAN not working
Someone did an poor job at QC thatās for sure
Hello all,
Same issue here as reported by @j24 . The phone is stuck at the language selection screen after a reboot at the security code step.
If I understand correctly, I should get some USB-C hub and plug a mouse in, right ?
This morning I thought I would attempt to flash SFOS 5.0 and start again from the beginning but I couldnāt find the image or the procedure to do so.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers, Magic Sam
I followed the instructions, charged the J2, created 5x digit lock code, skipped the tutorial, no wifi.
Rebooted the phone, the startup wizard started again with the message: Could not encrypt device.
after i followed the wizard (for the 2nd time) and skipped the tutorial - the phone worked, now wlan. Switched the device off,
after switched it back on - enter the lock code and never ending spin on entered the code.
So i joined the club
The safest option now is to file a maintenance request ticket and wait for the reply. This is the only thing I can truly recommend.
However, if you really want to try to resolve it yourself, risking a possibly bricked or otherwise beyond self-repair device, hereās what I believe are the steps. I did not actually make it to the all-good state, so this is partly based on my understanding of what other people reported.
- Fully charge the battery.
- Boot. Plug a USB mouse.
- Use the mouse to go through the wizard.
- If you are lucky like @carepack, the wizard will let you set up a security code. If you are unlucky like me, the wizard ends before you are able to set a security code. Either way, you should be in the main lockscreen now with the clock visible, or directly at the desktop.
- If you have set up a security code and wlan, it may be ok to reboot, based on reports. Otherwise, keep the phone on and charged until further instructions are available.
- If security code, encryption or wlan is not setup you could possibly try to access the settings app and set them up from there. I didnāt see anyone reporting they tried or managed to do this or if it would be ok to reboot after that.
I did try to setup wlan from settings and failed.
Could not enable it. Message was shown that i need a reboot.
As i thought to be finished with setup i did that and wellā¦
After gettin the setup done and installed some apps, android and native, iām gettin more problems. Now the sim is makin trouble. Often its impossible to send sms. Restart, on off mobile network and the sms sendig is possible. But android apps not able to make use of the mobile network, but not all android apps. Whatsapp is working but others like zdf or ard arent able to get the internet connection. Will report about upcoming experiences.
Have a great day.
Same as you. Filled a ticket through zendeskā¦
Please tell me I donāt have to send it back to Jolla -_-
i think it will be to expensive for Jolla to send the phones back and reflash them. I think they will offer reflash image.
Installing the Developer mode and Fingerterm is currently (Sailfish 4 & 5) a local operation, i.e., no Internet connection is required. All ingredients are included in the OS image.
I performed the same sequence as yours and the updated directly to 5.0.0.21 and everything went smooth. In fact, smoother than it usually is with my Xperia 10 III.
So far I havenāt had any problems
When booted up
the phone was off when received
battery about 65%
No SIM in the device
language FI
6 digit code two times
Time zone FI
Wlan Key (WPA 2) connected, my own Wlan was directly visible
Completed wizard without problems
Downloaded update without problems
Downloaded a couple of applications from Jolla Store as well as from Aurora Store and they are working.
The phone is still without the SIM but so far I have used the device by the WLAN.
I havenāt rebooted the device yet.
Then for whatever reason this didnāt work either. Enabling developer mode was not possible, resulted in a spinner never ending.
I wonder if changing the Security Code from Settings at this stage would improve chances for it to be stored correctly?
Iām guessing that it expects the security key to be set and the filesystem to be encrypted when it boots. But yes, at this point its guesswork since there are no official instructions.
In my case I never had the chance to set a security code in the first place.
Same for me!!! I donāt know what to do
