File Browser support and feedback thread

I didn’t know about the text editor, awesome.

There’s one thing in the Settings which is a bit odd. The thumbnail size selector is placed twice there, one on the Sorting and View page and the other on the App Settings page. With both I can change the thumbnail size but the other selector does not adapt to the setting I’ve selected.

That’s probably because you’ve enabled the option “Use per-directory view settings” (maybe it’s enabled by default).

In this case, the settings on the “App Settings” page are used by default but you can specify different settings on the “Sorting and View” page that only apply to the current folder.

No, it’s deactivated and I’ve never enabled that option before.

Now I understand why the thumbnail size setting is there twice on two setting pages. The problem is that the indication of the selected thumbnail size is not synchronised between the two option lists.

Oh I see! Yes, that’s a bug.

@ichthyosaurus Thank you so much for the wonderful File Browser update, or better say upgrade! I’m absolutely delighted from the new video player, the Editor enhancements and have also the feeling that the pdf-reader runs smoother now.
Thank’s very very much again @ichthyosaurus

Agreed with @Seven.of.nine, loving this new update!
Sometimes you see filenames of old videos and just don’t bother, but I just had a nostalgic trip through my video files this morning after I had finished my checking-for-updates routine

@E-PaiN thank you, glad you like it! But do check for updates again, I just released some fixes that make it more comfortable to browse video files :).

Yes, buttons are visible better now! Funny is, one can tap the +10 seconds and -10 seconds button even when they are not visible if one knows where they are (if visible)
I’m excited!

That’s on purpose so you can quickly fast forward or rewind without having to first show the controls. You can also pause by tapping the center of the screen.

Is it intended that videos do autoplay on entering the FilePage.qml, not waiting for any tap?

edit: playing around with this
onClicked: playButton.visible ? playAudio() : viewContents(true, false) //orig: viewContents(false, false)
in line 169 seems to affect the autoplay behavior…
How does this work?

edit: Slowly i think i understand how this is intended… phantastic!!

Actually no, that wasn’t intended :joy: It’s intended that the video starts playing immediately when you open the preview page, that is, when you swipe/tap right-to-left from the file page.

have the bug that videos on sd-card start in the videoinfo-Screen, you can hear the audio from the video there. When swipe to the right video is already playing since you entered the videoinfo-screen. Videos there are in .avi container.

Videos in /home/defaultuser/Videos/Camera starting after swipe right in the videoinfo-screen like intended, format is mp4.

To sort out things, i copy one mp4 video to SD-Card and you can hear it playing in the videoinfo-screen, so this bug is location-related and not format-related.

That’s exactly what it does and also exactly what I want! AND: swipe back left-to-right to FilePage is pause and swipe back right-to-left is resume. That’s how my device behaves at the moment and I consider this as very fine! Thank’s very much, really fine now!
BUT: Autoplay (audio only) starts now immediately when entering file page coming from directory page. This is sometimes a little bit loud and was surprising at the beginning. Now I am familiar with that. So now I take earpieces BEFORE…

But I have this behaviour in the ~/Videos/Camera folder with mp4 files. I got no memory card installed.

Xperia 10 III wirh SFOS 4.5.0.24 and File Browser 3.3.1

I tested this now, too, and copied a mp4 file from SD to phone mem. Behavior is the same, no matter where the file is.
On entering the file info page with the icon, name, size,…, video starts immediately “sound only” without tapping anywhere. Swipe right-to-left adds video, swiping back (left-to-right) pauses, other direction swipe resumes.
The autoplay-audio-only happens only the first time entering the Info page coming from directory.

The new version 3.4.0 fixes:

…and some other nice things.

But I lost way too much time on this already, so File Browser will have to get a break from development now.

@ichthyosaurus did you receive my donation? That Liberpay-System is a little bit confusing.
