Feedback on Xperia 10 V

Does anyone have call recording working on the Xperia 10 V? The icon does not appear on the call interface despite activating it in the settings.

Some initial feedback:

  • Got a used xperia 10 v, had some fastbook challanges, but eventually unlocked the bootloader and flashed SFOS.
  • Flashed on top of Android 15 (couldn’t be asked to deal with Emma, at least at this point) and v3a binaries as per instructions
  • Mobile things (phone, SMS, data) seem to be working OK
  • Upgrade from 4.6 to 5 OTA worked well
  • Android seems to be working fine as well
  • Phone feels more performant than the xperia 10 iii, but then again this is a vanilla install
  • It does take a massive amount of time to boot though, reminds me of the xperia 10
  • SD card works (and encrypted!), contrary to somebody’s post somewhere here*
  • GPS location works surprisingly well!
  • Bluetooth headphones pair and work well
  • Playing youtube videos on Browser doesn’t quite work (plays first second, then stops, refuses to go full screen and whatnot). Firefox works (ish), it kept asking for permission to send notifications (why?!) until I silenced that.

Not tested:

  • Pure Maps (due to the one on the Jolla Store crashing miserably)
  • All The Nice Things that I use on my xperia 10 iii (like sudo and all that :stuck_out_tongue: )

Of course it doesn’t work yet:

  • Fingerprint reader
  • Camera (struggling to find that post that explains how the community can help*)
  • Call recording option

* It might be an idea to summarise the instructions to install SFOS on this device and its general status, as there are tons of contradicting bits information out there, not to mention links that are incorrect (e.g., the SFOS 5 images to flash don’t include one for this device)

Chum store is answer to that.

Why do you use sudo and not go native?

I did say “initial” feedback - chum is already installed.

#preferences, I’d rather not get into a discussion of why this is better than that (because it wouldn’t be better, just different)

I have a funny issue as of later;
Android layer seems to “loose” the disk randomly.
For example, whatsapp complains there not to be any disk.

This didnt happen before, has started in the past 2-3 days.

Yeah, this has been a problem for me for ages. I think it’s a known bug. Either way it is extremely irritating when it strikes

Found a “simple” solution to that; revoke and re-grant the Files permission from the android settings of WA

just tested SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_14_5.4_zambezi_v7a.img blob and no sim card detected, maccadrsetup process draining battery, phone freezing after some time. reverted back to SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_13_5.4_v4b_zambezi.img

Firstly, I apologize if this is in the incorrect thread. In my searches, this thread consistently appears as the place where the following is discussed:

I have 10V with SFOS installed. I have my Jolla account added. I can go into Settings > About product and see Add-ons listed, Microsoft Exchange and Android App Support. I have successfully installed AAS and subsequently successfully installed some Android apps.

However, after three reboots, trying via WiFi and via mobile/cellular data, I am still unable to install the Microsoft Exchange add-on.
I go into Jolla Store > Jolla apps section > Microsoft Exchange > pull-down pulley > Install, then the installation progress starts spinning the circle and reads “Waiting”. After maybe 20 seconds or so, I receive a “Problem with installing”, following by “Problem with Store” error notifications.

From what I can read, this should be a straightforward installation process. Have I overlooked a step somewhere?
Thank you for your assistance.

Freezing phone, no sim card and whatever is my case when using anything other than

I started to doubt that there is really a problem with sonys blobs. But Im no dev, but I know that previous ports works with variety of blobs not depending on any specific one. So either sony changed something in their blobs development or jolla isn’t really going anywhere with it for the reason unknown to us.

You all know, Last year I was really hoping that I could play with 10 V at christmas. This year my hope is slowly dying

I don’t know if it’s relevant to talk only about Sony’s “blobs”, while there’s the compatibility broken by the HIDL/AIDL interface. So this is not just a Sony problem, but an architectural change by Mr. or Mrs. Google.

This also perhaps explains why the Mind2 team talks about a “node-based architecture” solution: they bypass the entire HAL dependency by making a host–device model, where Mind2 acts only as a processing node — and the desktop handles the interface.

Let’s keep thumbs up that we’ll have a working 10 V with Sailfish 5.1 very soon. :+1: The news have been quite promising. There is a progress happening step by step. Jolla needs all available Euros from all SFOS users.

Recently I’ve bought licences for devices I don’t even use so it’s only gain for . I would like to also donate some money directly but jolla refuses it. If they need all available euros they better start collecting them.

About month ago Jolla announced voluntary subscription for easy way to support them Sailfish OS voluntary subscription

would you have the node-based-architecture reference?

Discord /Mind2 + too long taking (?) speculations and imagination. We’ll hear soon more and get timetable for update of Mind2/Venho, which have been totally out of work since May. Like Xperia 10 V does allmost, too. There is lot of information In the net with combination ‘the node-based-architecture’, also.

Where can I buy the Sailfish OS image for Sony Xperia 10 V. In the jolla.shop I cannot find it?

You can’t.
It is still only free preview because it isn’t done.

I just got an Xperia 10 V and it is way more usable than the 10 III, for me. For example, VoLTE works. Support for updated blobs is essential to the usability of Sailfish on an Xperia, and the 10 III still requires obsolete blobs.

The only great downside is the lack of camera support, but then that’s not needed to use a phone.

Indeed it is. It takes a great deal of patience.
