My device doesn’t work at all with thezambezi_v6a.img or the v5a_zambezi.img blobs.
It completely freezes after maybe half a minute, every time, with high battery drain (device gets hot and battery is significantly lower after a reboot). It doesn’t freeze on security code input.
V5 seems a little bit more stable, but not stable enough to even install the first app from the jolla store.
Flashing v4 seems to result in a stable system, although it has only been 2 minutes or so, so far.
This is exactly what others observed as well and reported elsewhere in this forum. Major adjustment needed from Jolla side to integrate new v6 blobs (to hopefully support 10 V fully).
More notes on the freezing issue, it seems that it in fact does not require AppSupport to be running. Just now I got an instant spontaneous freeze (no warning lag beforehand) with only the browser and Quickddit open. Does not seem to be related directly to uptime: can take hours or 5 minutes. v4b blobs.
Xperia 10 V, flashed with SFOS 5.0.0.67 on top of 68.1.A.2.187 (1st Android 14 update for 2024) with recommended blobs v3a here.
The phone was left untouched @79% battery, without SIM, no mSD, WiFi and BT OFF and AppSupport inactive. After a couple of hours, took it in my hand to play around. It was a bit hotter than normal, frozen for a few seconds, and after restarting it, battery was @ 10%.
Definitely not a daily driver yet, not even for the bravest!
Hoping that Jolla comes up with something more usable sooner than Soon™! My Xperia 10 III is still standing although its screen is cracked, but I don’t think it can hold much longer!
By the way, I am going though all the comments in this forum, trying to figure out which flashing combinations work best for Xperia 10 V, resulting to the stablest possible setup.
Is there any actual way to have SFOS (any version) on Xperia 10 V with the following working flawlessly?
Hello I flashed my 10 V with the AOSP Zambezi V4B and now we see the load progress on the Apareil. Wiregard works. The phone does not heat the hard battery one day and can see the level of battery loading.
For me all of these things are working correctly on v4b blobs, the phone can be a daily driver if you can manage the freezing, the broken fingerprint scanner, the broken camera and the broken microphone outside of calling. None of the things that are broken are particularly important to me and the freezing is manageable
In my device the screen is much to dim when using outdoors for the daily driver role. Currently I can use the device only indoors, it feels even like if the screen would be getting dimmer when exposed to light. Some other users have reported a similar behaviour, but based on the low frequency of confirmations, maybe only a subset of devices are affected??? Under Android Stock and AOSP the screen is as bright as reviews lije on GSM Arena suggest
I cannot measure it but my device is readable even outdoors. I have more a problem that it is too bright in low light conditions. I do not like it when screens burn my eyes.
Ok guys, thanks for clarifying that v4b is the best blobs version to flash. Indeed, the device seems to be consuming less mAs now.
@mbrazi_1 do you actually have a working battery level indication?
@catonyourcomputer yeah, all the points mentioned do not bother me that much as well (apart from the camera, which is required sometimes for my work, but its solvable), but not having a live battery stat is a bit of a pain.
@MeeGo-Junky I also noted lower backlight level on my device. Still haven’t tried to take it outside home to direct sunlight, but tried full setting side-by-side with my 10 iii, and the 10 v screen is indeed darker for me as well…
That is very strange, the battery indicator is not working for you on v4b blobs? It’s working fine for me but if you have flashed v4b and it’s still broken then that is above my paygrade
Unfortunately neither my time nor my energy allow currently me to keep on track with all the information spread over a couple of topics it seems.
Maybe someone can shed some light for me on these things:
Better using Android 13 or 14 as base?
Using/flashing latest Sony blobs? (perhaps with some howto pointed to, it’s been a while I messed with that)?
Any ETA for “official” updates on this?
Will I need to reflash the phone to android 14 first to get the (all) updates? If I’ve seen correctly the latest Sony blobs are for 14 only? I take it that this needs to be done separately and can’t be done from the “sailfish” side?
And if I got this right, there is still no fix for the camera in sight? A working battery info would be nice though, which appears to be working for some?
