Thanks to @mbrazi_1 and @catonyourcomputer I spent some time yesterday, flashing around and testing. Yes, I now have a working battery stat. What we still do not have, and wait from Jolla side, is camera (flash as well), fingerprint sensor, microphone (works only in calls), eSIM.
From the ~12 hrs of testing, battery seems to be on par with my xperia 10 iii. I will slip my SIM in 10 v today for further investigation.
The recipe for my final, and best yet, outcome is:
Flash Android 13 with EMMA
Lock bootloader and get the updates up to the first Android 14 version, 68.1.A.2.93 (unless you have the firmware files for it, in which case please let me know. Flashing the target firmware directly with newflasher will save you about an hour of waiting, locking and re-un-locking!)
Re-unlock, and flash sfos 5.0.0.67 with blobs v4b (which is for Android 13 by the way)
I previously flashed over A14 68.1.A.2.187 with blobs v3a and v4b, but battery stats did not work for me. Now it seems to be OK.
After a X10v restart, battery drain showed up its ugly face (and doesn’t go away)…
40% drop in 5 hours.
I used crest to check CPU usage, and I got this (attached). It does not look normal, or is it?
Edit: Forgot to mention that AppSupport is OFF, and actually never used.
Battery consumption is also horrible on my 10 V.
With stock Android, it easily lasts 3 weeks (yes, weeks), without SIM, Wifi on, sitting on the table.
The same with Sailfish, doesn’t last a day…
This is kind of bug that doesnt affect everyone. Like with brightness with direct sunlight. Some have it some do not.
In my case I daily drive 10 V and it lasts 2 days of moderate usage. I’ve only once ran into full discharge as Im using older blobs and have no battery indication
What has helped me in that situation is enabling Bluetooth and going to Settings > Utilities and restarting Bluetooth a few times until it settles down (3-5 times is typical). Having it enabled all the time has so far kept it working properly for me. It’s not the best thing for battery consumption, but still way better than it getting stuck, heating the phone and draining the battery.
I already tried this, together with enabling/disabling AppSupport, and it indeed solved the problem. But after a few times of enabling/disabling BT, it became unresponsive and could not be turned ON/OFF again (remained OFF).
I think I’ll pause attempts for now, and wait the next OS release!
I also have a problem with fast battery drain.
I am currently using v4b blobs on top of Android 14.
Crest shows that two services are consuming a lot of CPU.
