Hi there Sailors,
Curious if there are more Sailors are who have experienced the same issue as I have.
When I make an outgoing call, the C2 literally locks up after about 10-15 mins in the call. By locking up I mean that the C2 does not respond anymore to anything (swipe, on/off button).
Before this happens, the called party can not hear me anymore. Also I can not hear the called party. In other words, the call goes ‘ dead’ .
The only way to have the C2 respond again, is to perform a reboot/restart.
This problem does also occur when I receive a call. The call then stops after about 10-15 minutes at exactly the same way when I am placing an outgoing call.

I can not remember having this issue on the previous version of Sailfish.
Any other Sailors experiencing the same?
Rgds - Feike

From your descriptions sounds like an overheating problem. So something wrong with the phone hardware.

Thank you Filip,
That could well be the problem. I noticed when reading on the SFOS Forum, that the C2 becomes warm on the lower end of the screen.
I will see if I can raise a ticket with the Jolla Boys and how that will turn out.

I used the C2 daily for 10 months. Yesterday, the camera module seems to have died. There was no impact, the device was used carefully and gently, and I was quite satisfied.

This is naturally disappointing. What are the prospects for getting the C2 repaired, is it covered under warranty, and what steps should I take?

Enable Developer Mode, then click on the newly appeared Terminal icon and the camera dconf reset command is:

dconf reset -f /apps/jolla-camera/

If that doesn’t help, you could try removing the gstreamer registry cache

rm ~/.cache/gstreamer-1.0/registry.aarch64.bin

Thank you but both commands didn’t help.
CSD tool give a black screen and a " viewfinder -1x-1" message. The rest is ok.

I also have the impression that the battery is draining faster than usual and feel a slight heating zone near the objectives.

IIRC the warranty is two years so Zendesk is the way to go.

Are you so kind and can explain what zendesk mean ?

I will after you explained how search failed for you.

https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/search?utf8=✓&
There is nothing in the database that let you know how to activate the warranty
There is much less information there than in this forum
So i will contact Jolla by e-mail

At the top of the zendesk page?

You want to sign in and make a customer support ticket there.

Based on your experience,
After reporting a problem on Zendesk, should I
1/ expect a response ?
2/ mail to jolla
3/ buy another phone because the response might take a while ?

They do respond from Zendesk from my experiance. But it might take a while

Another phone? Not long ago I started to have a backup phone.

I tried to flash my C2 today and the camera is back to life !

(my starting problem was: after 8month of daily use, the camera app disfunctioned. It started but a full black image was showed within the app.

The csd diag tool failed with the camera and gave me the following “viewfinder -1x-1” ).

Restarting the phone didn’t help.

Conclusion: the csd testing tool does not give a definitive answer, if you get the same message , just try to reflash your phone.

Interesting!
Im asking me what can cause that.
So maybe the driver/partition/filesystem was damaged at a sudden shutdown while writing with empty battery, did you experience that?

I have similar problems with camera. Normally back camera stops functioning but front camera works. Still I may get photos with Whatsapp camera. Sometimes that is not possible. Sometimes the commands

dconf reset -f /apps/jolla-camera/

rm ~/.cache/gstreamer-1.0/registry.aarch64.bin

help, but normally I have to restart a phone. I collected journal logs but have not explored them yet.

@fingus,
I do not remember exactly: sure is that i never use the phone under a given amount of energy (around 8%)

I thought the phone should shutdown itself below a given energy mount.

But some people reported (and i confirm that) a very approximative estimation of the remaining battery charge as the energy becomes low . Under 15% there is no proportionality between remaining time and energy anymore. Maybe the system intends to write something and could not end its writing because of this misevaluation of the remaining energy charge.

Curiously the energy drain which was also higher before reflashing the phone is now back to normal as well.
