Feedback on Jolla C2

Can you record a video that way?

Don’t remember if Camera app ever hang up during photographing.
But OTOH video was never possible to record as App hanged always.

According to many reports here it seems not yet.

Today I noticed, that camera does not save location information. In setting “Save location” is on. And still dissapointed of quality.

Was the phone aware of its location? This may take minutes, so the camera can’t get the data unless available before shooting an image.

I tested this on my C2 with the upcoming OS release, and the camera saves the location. That is easy to check with the File Browser app by tapping the image file.

Upcoming OS release sounds good! I still wait for mobile data support for android apps as well as VoLTE to use my C2 as a daily driver. My XA2 is slowly disassembling itself…

To have this immediately, you can run before a GPS app in the background, such as GPS-Info, Pure Maps, Kuri, or OSM-Scout, etc.

Yes, running GPSInfo in the background keeps GPS alive, so that position info is available immediately if Camera requests it.

Location is turned “ON” in settings.
Running “GPSInfo”-app there is no data visible. I have seen it a few times randomly, but mostly nothing.
I have checked image information with File Browser, and nothing. Some old file I checked, there was location visible.
Can it be hardware related?

When starting GPSInfo there will no data shown. If you outside (thats means not in a building, car, train, jolla or so) you should see some datas after some (five ??) minutes. When not check all settings. With some settings you need internet access. Maybe you need move in a free area for testing. And maybe wait for the fresh release candidate jovirkku announced. Maybe the last one is the best magic trick.

You can test the hardware using the CSD tool.

If you swipe left you’ll see the number of seen/used satelites.

Thank you. GPSInfo is now running and location was added.
So I have to keep GPSInfo running, to have location to photos?
Never experienced something similar with my Android Sony

Yes, exactly that’s it. Enabling Location in Settings does not turn on the GPS module, but allows apps to access GPS data. The GPS receiver doesn’t power on before an app requests the position data. Therefore you have to let GPSInfo run permanently to keep GPS receiver on.

That’s because Andy wants to know where you are and use all possible options and information to locate you. And offer that same “convenience” to you.

That’s real bummer. Is there a way to avoid closing GPSInfo accidentally? Why it can be OS task? Or an option, if I want?

I am not recieving any calls, but I can make them.
Does anyone have this issue?

I also can access mobile network on my browser and e-mail,
but everything else is an issue.
Does anyone have this issue?

Be sure you are using the latest release of Sailfish OS with VoLTE support. In terms of “everything else is an issue”, you will have to be more specific, but I’d wager if you simply search on the forums you are likely to find someone that has encountered the same issue as you

SFOS 5.0.0.43 - VoLte enabled:

Calls: In Denmark I also cannot receive calls on the C2 when on 3’s network, but I can receive calls on Yousee’e network.

MMS: MMS can not be send or received on 3’s network, but works on Yousee’s network.

SMS: work on both networks with C2.

MicroG: still do not work properly. MicroG installs OK, all checks are OK, but several apps says Google services are not available and therefore do not work. I have seen the same problem with the same apps on my 10iii, so maybe this could also be a more general problem with the 64bit version of AppSupport - the same apps work fine on my XA2.

That solves issue #1

I still have the other issue.
All apps other than browser and e-mail simply claim that I have no internet connection.

For example wordfeud will say:

Failed host look:
'api.wordfeud.com'
