Community meeting on July 2, 2026

Please note new time slot

Schedule: Thursday 2026-07-02T16:00:00Z :world_map: :date:

Sailfish OS Community Calendar (ICS format)

Even if you do not participate, topics tend to generate discussion. I want to see discussion happening. Thus, I’m proposing that we’d use 10mins as minimum topic duration. Maximum 6 topics a week. We’ll continue with the extended 90 mins meeting duration.

Jolla to check action points from the previous meeting. We agreed today that we’ll start to follow up action points on each meeting.

Topic proposals for the meeting:

  • Add your name/nick using the template below to suggest a topic.
  • Indicate how much time you’ll need so we can time-box the meeting accordingly.
  • Please be as thorough as you can with your question/topic.
  • If you can’t make the meeting please ask and name a substitute.

It is expected that you show up and present your topic, or name a substitute and make sure they attend in your absence. These IRC meetings are for real time participation and live discussions, otherwise you can post the topic on here and get responses that way.

We need you to be present to clarify details in the topic, and to ensure the discussion is leading to the answers you are looking for! If you do not participate or your question/topic isn’t clear enough it will be postponed. Also: always ask for more time than you anticipate your topic needs!

Please have your topics ready at least 3 days before the meeting so we can prepare good answers. Topics announced afterwards will be postponed to the next meeting.

Template for topic proposal: (post your topic proposals as comments to this forum topic).

  • Topic: Individuals that ordered multiple items and charged multiple shipping fee’s

  • Some details about the topic: Multiple invoices and shipping fee’s have been sent to people that ordered multiple phones. Jolla mentioned that multiple shipping fee’s will be reimbursed. Will a new invoice with one shipping fee be sent with one package containing the multiple items?

We will need to know if a new invoice with all the items in one package will be sent so we can upload it. Some of us have uploaded the individual invoices to a forwarding address mailbox. If Jolla sends one package with multiple phones without letting us know, the receiver may keep some items since it doesn’t match the invoice uploaded or send back to Jolla.

  • Topic: HID-over-I2C-over-TOH

  • Some details about the topic: Having used my N900 for a number of years and unfortunately missed out on the N9, N950, and the earlier Jolla phones, I’m looking forward to getting back to a true Linux phone, and in particular the potential to have a hardware keyboard (like the original TOHKBD and the TOHKBD 2).

  • If I could design a module that complied with the HID-over-I2C protocol, is the Interrupt pin of the TOH interface connected to the AP in such a way that it can act as an IRQ?

  • If so, will the default Jolla Phone kernel include the necessary drivers to interface with a HID-over-I2C out of the box.

  • If not, are there others with a background in kernel/driver development that would be interested in collaborating.

  • Finally, if anyone is aware of other similar efforts I could lend my time to instead of starting a separate effort, that would also be a good outcome.

  • Approx. time needed: 10 minutes

Not a topic.

Might be just a problem on my side, but the *.ics file in the top post seems to be in need of an update, only listing meetings in 2025 for me.

Seems like the RRULE expired after last meeting. I’m sure someone from Jolla will fix it asap now that you pointed it out.

  2. **Topic:**About the Jolla J2 The Other Half.

  3. **Some details about the topic:**Hello, I had asked this before, but I was told that you were still working on it and that it wasn’t fully clear yet. My question was this: regarding The Other Half, will you sell modules such as keyboard modules, solar-powered modules, or modules for wireless connectivity? Or have 3D-printable modules been prepared? How much progress has been made on The Other Half, and exactly what kind of progress will be achieved with it?

My question was about this. I hope I was able to explain it in detail.

  2. Topic: Jolla Phone (2026) accessories and repairability
  3. Some details about the topic: Hi  I was wondering whether acessories for Jolla Phone (2026) will become available for purchase before the celebration event, and whether those who order these will get it in the event? The commerce page estimates June 2026 as the availability date, so that is why I am wondering. Also, will things such as camera modules, USB-C modules, etc be a part of these accessories, and will they be user replaceable? Thank you.

  2. Topic: Jolla Phone Day1 celebration event - spectators, +1?
  3. Some details about the topic: Hi again, maybe this is a bad question, because of physical venue limitations and such, but are there any plans to make the event more open for the public? Like introduce something like a (paid) spectator ticket, where people who haven’t ordered the phone can still hangout with the whole community and maybe try out these phones in hand. Make them experience Sailfish OS and understand why these phones have a firm place in the smartphone market. I think it could be a nice publicity stunt, but it’s just an idea, maybe far fetched. Also, for those who ordered the phone and got the ticket, are they allowed to enter the event with a second person? Thank you very much

  • Topic:
    Sailfish for Feature Phones
  • Some details about the topic:
With the announcement of the Commodore Callback there is potentially a ‘new’ avenue for SFOS on feature phones. At Mobile World Congress 2018, Sailfish was shown on a feature phone, but we never heard any more about it until now. Given the renewed interest, is it possible that we (the community) may be able to port Sailfish to feature phones and use it successfully soon™? Eg. a Nokia 8000 port was attempted a few years ago (New Nokia 8000 4G port - feature phone UI?) but was not able to be completed due to missing software implementations for d-pad navigation, t9 typing etc.
I appreciate this is a late topic and I apologise, it was just a thought that occured to me today. Please hold onto it for the next meeting if required.
As before I would love to attend the meeting but I am unable due to it occurring at 2AM my time, but I hope this topic may generate some discussion if there are any other parties curious about what you can tell us regarding the Commodore implementation / collaboration.

  3. Some details about the topic: Does Jolla have a customer service? Does it work? When? Why don’t we get any answers to our problems/questions?

  5. Substitute (optional): Unfortunately, due to work I can’t be present.

I am especially referring to this thread:

and obviously no one received an answer from Jolla until now.

I have the same problems. Now the battery is swallen and I don’t dare to start the device.
It is about 1 year old, the warranty expires these days. I first contacted zendesk at the end of April but until now I haven’t heard anything from there.
Please, offer a solution and don’t hide in silence any longer. This doesn’t solve any problems. Tell us to send in the devices or to go to our local repair shop.
Thank you very much in advance.
