Community meeting on IRC 25th Mar 2021

Schedule: Thursday 25th Mar 2021 at 08:00am UTC (Check here for your local time)

Topic proposals for the meeting:

  • add your name/nick using the template below to suggest a topic.
  • indicate how much time you will need for the topic so we can time-box the meeting accordingly
  • please be as thorough as you can with your question/topic
  • if you can’t make the meeting please ask and then name a substitute who can in your place.

It is expected that you show up and present your topic, or name a substitute and make sure they attend in your absence. These IRC meetings are for real time participation and live discussions, otherwise you can post the topic on here and get responses that way.

We need you to be present to clarify details in the topic, and to ensure the discussion is leading to the answers you are looking for! If you do not participate or your question/topic isn’t clear enough it will be postponed. Also: Always ask for more time than you anticipate your topics needs!

Please try and have your topics ready at least 3 days before the meeting. This will help us have answers ready beforehand to save time. Topics announced afterwards will be postponed to the next meeting.

  • Name / IRC nick: cartron
  • topic: OAuth support for Exchange/ActiveSync
  • some details about the topic: We’re lacking OAuth support for Exchange/ActiveSync accounts, making it impossible to get emails/calendars/addressbook. A lot of organisations do not allow the use of App passwords, and enforce a 2FA (such as Duo).
  • approx time needed: 5 min
  • Name / IRC nick: Mister_Magister
  • topic: Gstreamer, gst-droid video playback example code
  • some details about the topic: There was a small app created by someone that was using gstreamer directly with gstdroid to playback videos with output in QML. But some undocumented api about gst-droid changed and now its broken. If someone from Jolla could make small snippet/example code how to achieve it again, it would enable developers to make advanced video playback apps with subtitles and whatnot (bypass qtmultimedia limitations) so it would be super helpful for us.
  • approx time needed: 15-30m
  • optional: any kind soul

  • topic: Involving the community in VoLTE
  • some details about the topic:

It has been suggested that VoLTE is ripe for external contributions. In order to do so effectively; a good start would be to gather what is known about what is needed to get working. Both what is actually known to some detail, and areas of study that are known to have outstanding issues. (Registering for IMS? Would we need to distribute VoLTE profiles? Plumbing in new codecs? More QMI stuff? RIL? IRadio?)

I think that just having a rough outline of the problem domain would be much better at attracting contributions. Part of this would also be having some (pointers to) resources on how the telephony stack works. Edit: the wiki already has this. What format could be used for collaborating on this? I’m thinking a wiki would be more suited than a forum thread.

  • approx time needed: 15 minutes
(I will be taking time off work to participate, and the first 30 minutes is much easier to free up.
If possible, please move to the to top of agenda, or postpone and move to the top of the next meeting. Let me know which you prefer.)
  • optional: co-conspirators wanted!

  • Name / IRC nick: lpr
  • topic: publish recent sources @
  • some details about the topic: just a reminder (last published sources are SFOS- in Oct-2019)
  • approx time needed: 1 min
